Put together six stand up comedians. Hold them all together by a relatively competent host who also is a pretty accomplished comedian. Get them to discuss the current affairs of the week, and you?ve got yourself Mock The Week.
Shown on BBC Two, and religiously on Dave (would you expect anything else?!), it?s hosted by Dara Ó Briain ? an irish comedian who has done several appearances on several other comedy panel shows such as Have I Got News For You and Never Mind The Buzzcocks. Regular panelists include Hugh Dennis, Andy Parsons, Russell Howard and Frankie Boyle?or that was until last week when Boyle declared he wished to leave the show to ?persue? other ideas. Dare I suggest his own comedy programme? I think so.
They sieve through various topics of the week in a variety of ways ? one round is ?If this is the answer, what is ...

Advantages: Last ages, Practical, Well known brand Disadvantages: Not British
I started using a highlighter when I did A-level History, all those years ago. I would use it to highlight key points in my notes and handouts from my tutor. This saved time when it came to revising and preparing draft essays. Stabilo is the brand that I have always stuck with, simply because they are the best, most reliable and longest lasting highlighter on the market. They are a compact size (approx 3 inches), so fit nicely in a pencil case or desk tidy and as long as you keep the cap on when your not using it, a Stabilo Boss highlighter could last over a year with no deterioration in highlighting quality. Their tapered shape also means that they are comfortable to hold and easy to use.

Advantages: An easy to read summary of the week's main news stories Disadvantages: Not for those who like their news in detail
A UNIQUE DIGEST which distils the best of the British and foreign press into just 44 succinct pages - ideal for today's busy lifestyle. What's more, The Week is a joy to read, keeping you entertained as well as informed."
I did like another selling point from the website and from my paper copy - you can read a summary of the week's news in just one hour!
Overall I'd rate The Week a high 8 out of 10 - it's a light read, yet summarises a lot of what went on during the week for those who don't have the time (or inclination) to read big awkward newspapers. If you like your news to be told in detail, this certainly isn't for me, but for someone like me, this is not what I would call hard work and based on that, I'm giving The Week a big thumbs up!
By the way, if you sign up via the website you can get 4 trial issues for free.
