Peace Arch Concerts - Paul Robeson

Advantages: Great songs including 2 duets with Michael Jackson

...First I will confess to being a huge fan of Paul McCartney. I am an admirer of his music with The Beatles as well as with Wings, as Paul McCartney and in duets. "Pipes Of Peace" is an exceptional album. It has 11 tracks of which 4 are amongst the best he has ever produced. The 4 tracks I rate so highly are "Say, Say, Say", "The Man", "Through Our Love" and "Pipes Of Peace". The first two of these are duets with Michael Jackson and co-written with Michael Jackson. If that isn't a pop music writing dream team then I don't know what is. "Say, Say, Say" is quite well known and to this day (Feb 2009) still gets regular airplay on Music Television Channels. But "The Man", which I think is an extraordinarily brilliant track is little known or played on either radio or television. "Pipes of Piece" is well known and clearly of high... Read review

...The Isles of Lewis and Harris in the Outer Hebrides are amongst the remotest of all British outposts and subsequently do not receive the vast number of tourists that they would undoubtedly do if they were more accessible. These islands not only boast the most magnificent beaches in the whole of Northern Europe they are also packed full of hundreds of little curiosities, some of which could be easily missed but turn out to be real little gems. The Whale Bone Arch at Bragar was marked as a tourist attraction on my map and since it was just down the road from where I was staying I decided to check it out. I was however somewhat surprised therefore to discover that this attraction is actually in someone's back garden. ...Paul McCartney?s ?Back in the US? concert tour of America in 2002 was captured on DVD. An icon of pop music, he changed countless lives and carved his name through whole cultures. Here he can be seen playing over thirty songs, live in front of huge audiences. Paul McCartney is a giant of musical creativity and a great singer and performer still rightly venerated by most of the world forty years after he first became famous. For those of us who were fortunate enough to have grown up in the 1960s there were other giants. John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Joe Cocker, The Who, The Kinks, Pink Floyd, Joni Mitchell, Simon and Garfunkel, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin? the list goes on.
