Having been a mega fan of Pearl Jam for 8 years now, I eventually took it upon myself to join their Tenclub! This year’s newsletter (it’s more like a bigger version of the booklets found with each of their albums) is filled with photos of the band on stage interspersed with the usual strange drawings and designs. Also included are letters from Jeff Ament and Mike McCready describing their times on tour throughout the past year. The centrefold competition of issue 17 gives you the opportunity to design clothes for a paper doll cutout of Mike McCready complete with his own guitar! Cool gimmick!

The ‘Ask George’ section seems to be a regular slot for Pearl Jam’s, dare I say it, ‘Roadie’ to give an insight into the life of touring with them – it makes an interesting read.

And best of all the Xmas newsletter includes a Xmas gift of a vinyl single. This year’s songs are ‘crown of thorns’ – an excellent cover version of the classic Mother Love Bone track!!, and ‘can’t help falling in love again’ – which you may think would be strange but as I’m forever saying, Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder could play and sing any song in the world and it would sound mega – such is their talent and maybe I’m biased too!! So for all you fellow Pearl Jammers who haven’t yet joined – sign up, it’s well worth the U.S dollars!
