Advantages: Great Song Choices Disadvantages: It's Not Big Belt It Out Power Singing
ElkieBrooks was born Elaine Bookbinder in Salford, North West England in 1945 and to my mind is one of Britain's finest ever singers.
This album is a superb compilation that has her two hits that are very much associated with her career (Fool If You Think It's Over and Pearl's A Singer) as well as an abundance of great, great songs that she released as singles or as album tracks.

From this my love of pop music grew and to this day I still listen to pop songs from the 70s ? and the early 70s in particular ? as there is something I find very appealing about them and the overall musicality of them.
One group from this era was the Pearls ? who were basically two fairly nondescript looking female singers with fairly nondescript voices who turned up on "Top of the Pops" occasionally. "Top of the Pops" was as unmissable to me as the chart run down on Radio 1 was.
At the time I took this group at face value ? to me they sang pop songs which were simple and similar in style to some of the girl group songs of the 60s that I occasionally heard ...
