The Stereophonics 'Performance and cocktails' album was released in 1999, it was the follow up to their first album 'Word gets around'. I have to admit that after I first bought the album I wasn't that impressed and it stopped in my CD rack without getting played for several months. After hearing the album in a pub one night, I found it again, dusted it off and decided to have another listen. After listening a couple of times, the album gets better and better. The first track to be released off the album, 'the bartender and the thief' has to be my favourite track off the album.
Other tracks which have been released are 'hurry up and wait', 'pick a part that's new', just looking' and 'I wouldn't believe your radio' This excellent band from Wales definitely deserved their Brit nomination for this album, and they truly deserved the success they had with it as the album spent months in the top 10 album chart.
Give this album a chance, if you don't like it the first time through or you think all the songs sound the same, have another listen as each track will soon stand out on its own.
