Formed in 1998 by vocalist Benjamin Burnley and drummer Jeremy Hummel, Breaking Benjamin quickly garnered a strong local following. In 1999, the band briefly renamed themselves "Plan 9." In late 2000, after various line-up changes, the band changed its name back to "Breaking Benjamin" and two friends of Burnley, Aaron Fink and Mark Klepaski, left their previous band, Lifer, and joined the ranks of Breaking Benjamin as guitarist and bassist, respectively. Lifer was a band that gained brief mainstream attention because of their part in an MTV cover band contest that resulted in a record deal with Universal Records. This album sold 131,000 copies in its first week, which made it the fastest selling and highest charting Breaking Benjamin album to date, locking up a #2 spot on the Billboard charts. One of their most famous songs would be "Blow me Away". This song was featured in the fast paced shoot-em up game, "Halo 2" and is a great song to play along to. Track listing :- 1. "Intro" - 1:13 2. "The Diary of Jane" - 3:21 3. "Breath" - 3:38 4. "You" - 3:22 5. "Evil Angel" - 3:41 6. "Until the End" - 4:11 7. "Dance with the Devil" - 3:47 8. "Topless" - 3:03 9. "Here We Are" - 4:17 10. "Unknown Soldier" - 3:46 11. "Had Enough" - 3:47 12. "You Fight Me" - 3:10 13. "Outro" - 2:05 14. "The Diary of Jane (Acoustic)" - 3:06 I find that each song on this album makes me think of a real life situation, and the song then plays out the story line. Such songs as "Breath" and "Dance with the Devil" will really capture your interest and ears from the first notes. I find it best to listen to this album whilst chilling out alone or with a few friends, not really good for a heavy party. Each song contains immensely powerful vocals as Benjamin Burnley pushes his voice to the limits, particularly in the song "Evil Angel". This combined with the dramatic chords and lyrics provide a fantastic album.
