Album Notes: The seventh album in Zebrahead's seven year career continues where 1996's 'Broadcast To The World' left off, with their unique pop/rap sound. Despite often being lazily labelled as nu-metal, Phoenix shows that Zebrahead have more to offer than the boyband metal of the bands they repeatedly find themselves compared to. 'Mental Health' is the first single to be released from the album, which coincides with the release of the band's 'Not The New Album' EP.

Advantages: A great debut album. It sounds like Daft Punk! Disadvantages: Too short ?
...I'm not sure to be at the right opinion, But I write an opinion about Phoenix debut album United.
Phoenix is a french pop-electronic music band.
From the golden area Versailles-Paris. Yet their debut album, "United", sounds like Alex Gopher or Daft Punk's cd's.
Let me tell you their story.
Once upon a time around 1991 (too old!), Thomas Mars (vocals), Deck D'Arcy (bass) and Christian Mazzalai (guitar) were a garage band, performing in pubs and bars, playing covers. End of the first part!
Then in 1997 they hit on the Phoenix name with a punk rock song : "Party time" (re-mixed for United). Another member Laurent Broncowitz joined the band at this time.
About this album :
This Phoenix debut album sounds like a funky-romantic-electronic with slices of Van Halen's guitar and voices.
"Too young" is a funky heavy-metal-moog song...

Advantages: Uplifting, diverse music Disadvantages: 14 tracks too short!
...Listening to Waste of Mind, it is nearly impossible not to enjoy every song on the track list. With fourteen happy-go-lucky tunes, it boasts a joyful tone that has become a rarity in today's charts, as every other song appears to be about heart ache, being lonely and other depressing topics.
The delightfully catchy melodies, such as "Bootylicious Vinyl", and "The Real Me" fuse rock/pop with hip-hop rap, building on a genre that is mostly associated with bands such as Rage Against The Machine, Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit.
The album was the first full-length CD from Californian five-piece Zebrahead, who are still performing together to this day. Many existing Zebrahead fans have claimed Waste of Mind to be a terrible album in comparison to some of their newer material, but you always get that - as a band progresses, so does...

Advantages: Everysong A Good Listen, Good Fusion Of Rap & Punk Disadvantages: Maybe A Little bit too short.
...This album was released on the same day as the second single taken from the album, "Anthem". I hadn't had too much experience with Zebrahead (I'd only heard one song!) but this song, blew me away. Already, after hearing this song, I craved for more, I instantly, went out and bought the album, after hearing one song, And I Did not regret it at all! The combination of rap and punk was something had that seldom been heard before, however this seemingly incompatible pairing really worked! What impressed me most though, was the fusion between the two, it wasn't "Rap a verse, sing a chorus" on every song, highly reccomended for punk fans looking for something new! Particarly Songs Such as anthem and Postcards from Hell....
