Advantages: Honest and funny Disadvantages: Could do with a little more input in places
Firstly I'd like to say I?m a big fan of Justin Lee Collins, since me and my partner first watched him on "10 things you didn't know about..." on BRAVO TV as the bad boy from Bristol, partly because he's Bristolian and he also grew up and went to the same school as i did (Although 10 years apart and have never met him, not that I can remember anyway), he is very witty with a dry sense of humour and doesn't seem to have forgotten his roots or forgotten those along the way. But I am going to write my review about his autobiography in an unbiased opinion as possible.
Secondly, I'd like to express my excitement at stumbling across his brand new hard back edition for £3.25 in a local charity! GoodTimes! To show my appreciation of my lucky buy I will be donating it to a local animal welfare fun day, so they can raise that little bit ...
Advantages: compelling reading, packed full of action and detail Disadvantages: compelling reading and lots of pages
of all those he came into contact with.
Ken Follett wrote 'Pillars' in less than the thirty plus years taken to construct the fictional Kingsbridge Cathedral, yet this novel is a spectacular piece of writing that stands the test of time, in exactly the same way as a cathedral. I'm not in the least surprised by these statistics; I've just read the book for the third time, at least one reviewer on Amazon has read 'Pillars' five times ...
Advantages: Good hisorical detail Disadvantages: Too long, villains a bit pantomime, didn't always feel believable

All I knew about it was that it was about the building of a cathedral in twelfth-century England and that it was long. Having never read Ken Follett before I had no preconceptions about his writing style and didn't know what to expect.
This book was written in 1989 and went on to become Follett's best-selling work. It was listed no. 33 out of 200 books in the BBC's "Big Read" in 2003, which was a survey looking for the nation's most popular books.
The book begins with a short prologue about a hanging in 1123 - obviously this scene has significance but we don't know why until later in the book.
The book is then divided into six parts, each spanning a specific amount of time:
Part One - 1135 ...
