Advantages: Action and adventure, great scenes, Orlando Bloom, Johnny Depp Disadvantages: A bit long
Pirates of the Caribbean at World end is the third movie in the Pirates trilogy. It follows the crew of the Black Pearl (thePirate ship) rescuing Jack Sparrow from Davy Jones' locker and then preparing to fight the East Indian Trading Company who are intent on extinguishing piracy. I'm not going to spoil the rest of the plot/movie for you as I believe you should see it for yourself so I will just now review the rest of the DVD and what I thought of the film/films.
At the box office it was actually the most successful film of 2007 and is the second most successful film in the series. I think even if action and adventure films aren't for you (they aren't my most favourite) this would still be a film you like as it is very funny in places, the sets are brilliant and the action really is very well choreographed. My one complaint with it ...
Advantages: Great fun all the family can enjoy Disadvantages: It ends too soon
be Elizabeth Swan, the Governor?s daughter. Jack rescues Elizabeth from drowning, but because he?s a pirate, he?s promptly jailed and condemned to hang (how unfair).
That night, Barbossa attacks Port Royal, searching for the last gold coin needed to end an ancient Aztec curse. Barbossa and his men kidnap Elizabeth, who came into possession of the coin many years before when her father and his crew discovered a young boy floating on a wreck in the ocean (the young boy being Will Turner).
Barbossa mistakenly believes she?s the child of long-gone shipmate, Bootstrap Bill, because she is in possession of the coin.
Will Turner (the real child of Bootstrap Bill), the town blacksmith and a master swordsman, loves Elizabeth, and he enlists Jack?s help to rescue her. Jack agrees, but neglects to mention the curse that has doomed Barbossa ...
Advantages: Excellent in Every Way Disadvantages: None
throughout, though in a moment can change from mooning after her to being a confident, controlled and dominant leader of his men. Again, I had never seen him in anything before, and was incredibly glad to 'discover' him in this.
Crew
This film is produced by the infamous Jerry Bruckheimer [Pearl Harbor, CSI, National Treasure] so it was always going to be on a big scale, and of high quality. Couple that with Gore Verbinski as Director [The Ring] and you have a recipe for success. Writers Ted Elliot and Terry Rossio provide the perfect script to work with.
Special Features.
The thing I love about this is that there are lots and lots of special features. On the 2nd Disc inside the 2 disc movie case there are;
--Epic at Sea
--Diaries
--Fly on the Set
--Blooper Reel
--Pirates in the Park
--Below Deck
--19 Deleted Scenes ...

Album Notes
The Pretenders: Chrissie Hynde (vocals, guitar); James Honeyman-Scott, Robbie McIntosh (guitar, background vocals); Malcolm Foster, Pete Farndon (bass guitar, background vocals); T.M. Stevens (bass guitar); Martin Chambers (drums, background vocals). Additional personnel include: Johnny Marr , Billy Bremner (guitar); Paul Carrack (piano, background vocals); Bernie Worrell (keyboards); Tony Butler (bass guitar). The Pretenders are a band that's easy to take for granted, yet every time one of their excellent singles--and there are lots of them--hits the radio, the response is invariably, "Oh my God, I love this song." When you begin to peel back the layers of the band itself--the alternately jangly and punchy guitars, the hard-as-nails rhythm section, and Chrissie Hynde's impeccable songcraft and unbelievably sensual alto--it's easy to make a case for the Pretenders as one of the best American rock bands of the post-'60s pop landscape. PIRATE RADIO, the comprehensive, long overdue Pretenders box set, helps support that case. Spread out over four CDs are studio recordings, demos, live material, and alternate versions recorded between 1979 and 2005. In addition to the obvious inclusions ("Brass in Pocket;" "Back on the Chain Gang"), the full range of the Pretenders is represented, from rip-it-up rockers ("Precious") to gorgeous balladry ("2000 Miles"). And, finally, a bonus DVD of television appearances makes the case complete.
Album Reviews
Rolling Stone (p.71) - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "From a punky 1978 'Precious' demo to adventurous LOOSE SCREW cuts from 2002, Hynde radiates both erotic vigor and uncommon sensitivity." Mojo (p.124) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "Chrissie Hynde is the quality control. With her scabrously soulful voice and punchy songwriting, she ensured her band survived several line-up changes and the tragic death of two original members..." Uncut (p.120) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "[I]t's a surprise that such a vagabond, itinerant existence lead to a group that would prove a model of classic consistency for the best part of three decades."
