Advantages: Effective decimation of unnecessary brain cells Disadvantages: By watching it, you're directly contributing to Jeremy Kyle's smugness fund.
Jeremy Kyle. Erstwhile Radio DJ. Demoniser of the British working classes. King of the gypsies (thank you, Vic Reeves). Presenter and ringleader of the televisual circus that is the Jeremy Kyle Show, ITV's most gutter-scraping weekday morning offering (with the exception of This Morning and Loose Women, which are equally targeted at the perpetually unemployed and/or disillusioned housewives)
The show requires little introduction. It has a rigid formula which commences with Jeremy greeting his audience as if he were about to make a presidential bid ("Thank you, thank you. So kind...") and then, with a face set as if he were announcing news of immense gravity, introduces the first guests and their 'subject', which is then conveniently abbreviated at the bottom of your screen for the rest of that part of the show (should you need reminding ...

One morning I was having my breakfast and I flicked the TV on to see if there was anything worth watching. I'd seen Jeremy Kyle a few times and liked it. Although, I was reasonably firmly set against chat shows like this, I think (having studied counselling) that quite ofter more harm is ...
