Platinum Collection, The - Eddie Floyd

Advantages: It isn't another low budget set of reissues by some cheap no mark label
Disadvantages: Does there have to be any!?

...This fantastic collection tracks Frank Sinatra from 1953 up until 1961. These were the years he spent with Captiol Records, the label that picked Sinatra up after he was unashamedly dumped by his previous label. Capitol played a big role in turning Sinatra into what we all know as one of the biggest and most successful recording artists of the 20th Century. This set shows you the pairings of Frank and the likes of arrangers such as Axel Stordahl and Nelson Riddle as well as Billy May. The men partly responsible for the brilliance of songs such as "I'm Walking Behind You" (originally a hit for Eddie Fisher) and "South Of The Border". These CDs take you on a chronological journey through classic tracks such as Come Fly With Me, I've Got You Under My Skin, The Lady Is A Tramp and Pennies From Heaven. Advantages: Good Variation
Disadvantages: Double Cd, means someone has to change it if you aren't using a multichanger cd player!

...One of Pink Floyd's more 'delicate' albums! A fantastic collection of Roger Water's capabilities and the harmony of David Gilmours guitar playing skills. A live recording giving a wide spectrum of Pink Floyd music, including the controversial 'Shine on you Crazy Diamond', allegedly aimed at the ex floyd member Sid Barratt. A good variation from the more sombre shine on, to the more division bell style of learning to fly, then on to the blues feeling of Dogs of War. A double album, nly draw back meaning when you are chilling out to the sounds of Floys, somebody has to change the cd's over, unless you have a cd multi changer I can imagine this being a right pain!!! One of the later of the Floyd albums that isn't to heavy or sombre like some of the earlier albums of the seventies. A good all round choice for the Pink Floyd fan, plenty... Read review

Advantages: Nice collection of songs if you're new to Pink Floyd
Disadvantages: Not for people who has the essencial Floyd albums in their collection

...If you've never heard about Pink Floyd which I almost can't believe, this is a nice collection to start with. Real Floyd freaks won't buy this stuff however there are some rarities on this album. It's a shame that the title track "Echoes" is a short version of the original song found on the album "Meddle". Also consider that some songs are picked out from concept albums and from my point of view, these songs are not so strong as a stand alone song. Certainly songs from the Album "Dark side of the moon" are songs that you only can enjoy if you listen to the entire album. Also, the songs are mixed up and are not chrononical. Again, very recommended for music lovers who haven't any album of Pink Floyd... Read review
