Love them or hate them Queen will always be a group that will stay in the memory of our generation, simply because their success throughout the years has echoed around discos and parties when we were younger, karaoke machines nationwide or stealing the show at live aid some twenty odd years ago.you know that you could always name a Queen track if asked to do so.I am writing this review with an open mind and having played this cd many times this is my opinion. May i point out that this review is for the platinum collection that was released in 2000 then re-released in 2006 with the new cd cover in a platinum coloured cardboard sleeve. There is no difference to the content of the cd's
THE PACKAGING........
A silver coloured 3 cd set with the three greatest hits albums displayed on the front with the simple Queen name above and the greatest hits I II and III in normal bold letters. Called the Platinum Collection this is in white and smaller text. Not the most inspiring cd cover i have seen but nonetheless its the music
that counts. Inside is the 3 cd's displaying the same logos as on the front cover as these are the original album print. You then have an extremely comprehensive inlay booklet in platinum and displaying the Queen coat of arms logo. Each song has information of when written, produced by who,the album its from and all relevant information that you may need should you want to purchase more queen music.
1)Bohemian Rhapsody 2)Another One Bites The Dust 3)Killer Queen 4)Fat Bottomed Girls 5)Bicycle Race 6)You're My Best Friend 7)Dont Stop Me Now 8)Save Me 9)Crazy Little Thing Called Love 10)Somebody To Love 11)Now I'm Here 12)Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy 13)Play The Game 14)Flash 15)Seven Seas Of Rhye 16)We Will Rock You 17)We Are The Champions
This album has some classic songs which were the foundation of launching Queen into super stardom. Bohemian Rhapsody we all know, the foot tapping Dont Stop Me Now,the hard rocking Seven Seas Of Rhye, the Amusing Flash and of course the ever popular, sung all over the world We Are The Champions. A little something for everyone i think plus many more.
Greatest Hits II
1)A Kind Of Magic 2)Under Pressure 3)Radio Ga Ga 4)I Want It All 5)I Want To Break Free 6)Innuendo 7)Its A Hard Life 8)Breakthru 9)Who Wants To Live Forever 10)Headlong 11)The Miracle 12)I'm Going Slightly Mad 13)The Invisible Man 14)Hammer To Fall 15)Friends Will Be Friends 16)The Show Must Go On 17)One Vision
Again some classic songs across this album and none as infamous as the hand clapping Radio Ga Ga. Also The Invisible Man with is individual solos by each band member introduced by Freddie himself.Personal favourites Hammer To Fall and Friends Will Be Friends are brilliant and A Kind Of Magic and I Want To Break Free speak for themselves as well known and enjoyable songs.
Greatest Hits III
1)The Show Must Go On(Queen with Elton John) 2)Under Pressure(Queen with David Bowie) 3)Barcelona(Freddie Mercury with Montserrat Caballe) 4)Too Much Love Will Kill You 5)Somebody To Love(George Michael+Queen) 6)You Dont Fool Me 7)Heaven For Everyone 8)Las Palabras De Amor 9)Driven By You(Brian May) 10)Living On My Own 11)Let Me Live 12)The Great Pretender 13)Princes Of The Universe 14)Another One Bites The Dust(With Wyclef Jean) 15)No One But You 16)These Are The Days Of Our Lives 17)Thank God Its Christmas
An album of mixed songs and duets, individual performances and all in all a little emotional in parts. Not least the haunting These Are The Days Of Our Lives,a song written and performed with a poignant reminder of just how ill Freddie was at this time. A picture in the back inside cover of how Freddie looked when this song was made makes you admire the man, ravished by terrible illness but determined to the end to keep writing music. Hat off To you Freddie. Still, there may lesser known songs on this particular album to some of you but always well worth a listen. Dont get me wrong, not every song is a classic but you can appreciate the versatility of the group and the way they produced music throughout the years. The spellbinding duet with the spanish opera singer Montserrat Caballe that Freddie wrote himself about her home town is a joy to listen to. Too Much Love Will Kill You has lyrics of real meaning and won an Ivor Novello award for 'Best song musically and lyrically'
To sum up i would say that this is one of the best cd sets you could wish to own, lyrically masterful and a must for fans young and old. I hope you enjoy this review and any constructive comments are most welcome.
This album can be purchased in record shops nationwide and the 2000 release is considerably cheaper but no less brilliant.

Great review, I was given the third of these cds so I'm glad I have some Queen music on cd the other is It's a Kind of Magic album on tape, which I played a lot. Just sad that I didn't listen to more of their music when they were together and possibly gone to see them. I agree with Fuzzy below about the content and that you gave yourself a mountain to climb reviewing a treble album. Take a look at other cd reviews and get ideas from them, this can only enhance your reviews. Well done anyway. David

A very good review there sweetheart :o) I absolutely love Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy although my personal favourite (and a bit camp i know!) and one which isn't listed on here is Seaside Rendezvous - but i do love listening to Queen i general and always have them nice and loud on my iPod! As mentioned below, a lot of people do mention about the content of the song, and whilst it is quite good on 1 album, when you have as many songs as on 3 albums, like here, it just isn't possible (you'd be over the word limit for a review lol). If you wanted to give more information, perhaps just a small bit of info on a couple of songs per CD? Enitrely your choice sweetheart - its your review after all :o) A good review nether-the-less though :o) Sarah xx
