Well this album was released by Michael Bolton, as it says, in december 2003. It has at least one cover on it (Track 6, When A Man Loves A Woman), which was done by PercySledge a while back.
It has a really uplifting track to kickstart the album, with Love Is A Wonderful Thing. This lulls you into a false sense of security of thinking this is going to be all good, upbeat songs, but the second song, the title track of the album, is upbeat in places but there is a definite mellowing feel to it. Leading into the softer sounds of Missing you now, and Forever isn't long enough, which really put me to sleep, but I did like them (anyone with an idea to knock sense into me?). Advantages: One of the greatest albums of 2005 Disadvantages: Nothing like his previous work
...The second album from producer/vocalist Jamie Lidell is absolutely stunning and, if it was not for the corporate nature of the UK music industry at the current point in time, he should be receiving major critical acclaim.
This is Jamie Lidell's second release after the experimental 'noise-tronica' of his debut, "Muddlin' Gear". While that was complex, and difficult to listen to, it sat well beside other Warp records artists like Squarepusher and Chris Clark. This album, however, is completely different.
It is true that Jamie Lidell, for this album, wears his influences on his sleeve; part Jackie Wilson, part Stevie Wonder, part PercySledge, part James Brown.
