Advantages: Teaches children to count backwards from five Disadvantages: Pages thin for very young hands
at on every other page, hold a small brightly coloured pony in many different lovely colours. These ponies are set safely onto each page and can not be removed no matter how hard my daughter tries! They are made of a hard plastic from what I can tell and create a lovely outlook to the book ? much better for young children than just having the usual pictures on the pages. My daughter loves running her fingers over them as we count them.
Each page within the book is really brightly coloured and very pleasant to look at ? it is really a lovely looking book as a whole. There are 20 pages which consist mostly of the pony figures and the lovely images with some easy to read sentences on each page.
The story is a very simple story to help children learn to count down from five to one and even though my daughter is a little too young to count down yet ...
Lucy Daniels is an amazing author who wrote the childrens collection of books called Animal Ark - a series about Mandy Hope, daughter of vets, and her love for animals. One of the books in the series is Pony in the Porch.
Cover:
A cover is the first thing you see with a book so it is important that it draws you in. Personally, I feel that this one does do just that. There is a gorgeous picture of a horse on the front, standing in what looks like a stable doorway. It is a very bright and sunny picture, very attractive and certainly drew me in.
Plot:
Mandy falls in love with a horse, and when she finds out that it is in danger by its snotty owner, the decides she must try and help the horse. But can she save him before its too late?
I think this is quite a nice little plot. It is full of adventure and action, but is not too busy either ...
