Vince Clarke was formerly with Depeche Mode, another band that relied heavily on electronic music, synthesizers and enigmatic types of lyrics. Clarke wanted to journey out from Depeche Mode's darker tendency to a much more pop-oriented and dance-oriented sound of his own. He recruited Andy Bell after auditioning many vocalists to front the band Erasure, and after turning out dance music throughout the 80s and 90s, has become one of the better-known unknown musical artists. Erasure never really made it big in America, although they did have a string of top 40 hits, some one which made it into the top 10 for brief stints depending upon what Billboard chart you were looking at. Go WILD with Erasure

Advantages: Fantastic disco tunes
Disadvantages: It's quite short and there are a couple of dodgy numbers.

Some say I have a strange taste in music, some say its diverse. Others say I have a shite taste in music but I prefer the term eclectic. Anyone who has read my other music reviews will know that I am rather partial to a bit of rock. However there is another side to me.....ooooh yes, I am a huge Erasure fan. I just love their electro pop stuff and no-one can pull off PVC cowboy suits quite like Andy Bell. A BIT ABOUT THE GROUP Well, I say group, its more of a duo as there are only 2 members; the wonderfully flambouyant Andy Bell and the keyboard maestro Vince Clarke (formerly of Yazoo and Depeche Mode and most other 80's bands that featured synths). Review of Wild - Erasure

Erasure Do Boy!

Advantages: Different direction makes interesting listening
Disadvantages: Acoustic is not what they do best

out next month. I am hoping it will restore my faith in the band, Vince Clarke founded Depeche Mode, The Assembly and Yazoo before Erasure and he has remixed everyone from the Happy Mondays to Rammstein. I just hope attempts to do something different hasn't meant he has run out of ideas. (Although I suspect it's more likely Chelsea FC's owner will run out of money than Vince be ever unable to write a catchy chorus.) Lets hope the new album is better than e.p which, although it pains me to say it, is a lost opportunity. (Although the artwork is nice!) AND I was so looking forward to seeing Andy in a tu-tu on Top Of The Pops again.
