Cube just keeps gettin better
Review of War And Peace Vol.2 [PA] - Ice Cube by andylindley

Advantages: Lyrics & Beats
Disadvantages: none

...After buying the excellent 'War & Peace Vol. 1 (The War Disk)' I decided to check out the second installment. This disk is as good as, if not better than the first one. The best tune on the album is 'Hello', the collaboration with two of hip-hops greatest (Cube's friend's from back in the days of N.W.A) Dr Dre & MC Ren. This excellent tune shows Cube's skills lyrically and the beat is class. Other highlights of the album include 'You aint gotta lie', 'Until we rich' and 'You can do it'. This album is lyrically advanced, and further proof that Ice Cube is the best rapper. I recommend this album if you are a hip-hop or gangsta rap fan because the beats & lyrics are better than anything else out there!... Read review

When lights go down and old slow hand plays softly
Review of Unplugged - Eric Clapton by yhwman

Advantages: Some really good songs
Disadvantages: A lot of it sounds very similar

...’, originally written by someone credited as ‘mc.daniel’. I’ve no idea who he is, sorry. The song takes a wry look at attempting to reconcile a relationship and should raise a smile. Following on is another blues cover of ‘Hey Hey’, originally by ‘Big Bill Broonzy’ – you just have to smile don’t you! It’s a laid back piece with a nice little sliding guitar riff (Though not actually done with a slide). Now we have a Clapton Classic (TM), ‘Tears in Heaven’ – written about his son who fell out of a sky scraper. It’s a very emotional song that benefits the striped down approach it gains from being part of an unplugged session. There’s more song to it than the original. There’s not really much that could top that, but one track still to come... Read review

Not one of Jigger's better offerings
Review of Blueprint Vol.2, The (The Gift And The Curse) [PA] - Jay-Z by a1townsend2002

Advantages: A few great / hit records
Disadvantages: A lot of filler

...I dont think BP2 is one of Jiggers better albums.I am a big fan of Jay-Z especially his early offerings such as Reasonable Doubt and Vol 1. I found this a very frustrating album in many ways as, it has a few great records and a lot of inconsistent records, here are the good points on the album: The Watcher 2 with Dr Dre and Rakim,a great record with excellent lyrics from jigger, dre and rakim with a heavy beat. I Had A Dream was a good concept taken from the Samuel Jackson barclaycard advertisement, Bonnie & Clyde with Beyonce was the summer anthem a couple of years back and apert from a couple of good verses on badly produced tracks such as Hovi Baby (the verses on that are outstanding) but the production didnt compliment the song as well as I know producer Just Blaze usually does. I also thought that making it a double disc... Read review
