Private Press, The (+DVD) - DJ Shadow

Advantages: Well produced and distinctive
Disadvantages: Not as striking as Endtroducing

...If you're a fan of DJ Shadow already you've probably already bought this, but for those of you who haven't heard of him I urge you to read the reviews of his work. The Private Press is a great album but its got a lot to live up to - Endtroducing is a genre defining album that sounded so far ahead of its time when it was released that it was always going to be hard to better it. But thats not was this album is about. It certainly sounds different from his previous work, but its so well produced that this really is a great album if you want to test out your speakers. Not a floor-filler, but definitely one you'll need to listen to a few times. I'm still getting my head round it, and I can tell this is an album thats going to be played regularly. ...Dj Shadow presented with the Longplayer " endtroducing " its first solo album in 1999. The record player, a mass medium that became an instrument itself in the HipHop culture , experiences its large Renaissance. The artist DJ Shadow said in an interview " David Axelrod is somebody been listening to for years ". The Album itself is a multicolored Hip Hop Electromix.. " Best Foot forward " serves us Record artist DJ Shadow as Opener for the CD. The second song " Building Steam with A grain " a successful mixture from Ambient and with grooviing Hip Hop downbeats, for dreaming, relaxing and kissing to... " The NUMBER Song " is taken from a Battle with CUT Chemist, that has very good beats this song and everyone thus really mixes good CUTS, burning needle stuff. ...DJ Shadow is quite possibly the best DJ in the industry, both today and for the last few decades. If you are a fan of hip hop and sampling, then you should treat yourself to hearing his work. You might have had the pleasure of seeing the man himself in the "scratch" movie. http://dvd.ciao.co.uk/ScratchAllTheWayLiveDVD6344497 DJ shadow, is renowned for taking old lost records, which would otherwise be gathering dust and give them new light by mixing, blending and sampling them, turning them into classic hip hop/trip hop tracks. This album, "Endtroducing" was my first visit to the DJ Shadow world and its by far the best (though you should definetly check out "private press" as well.
