SMD Soundtrack the Summer
Review of Attack Decay Sustain Release - Simian Mobile Disco by  armitage_cake

Advantages: Infectious tunes fit for any party
Disadvantages: Only half the songs are new material

...In the past few years, Simian Mobile Disco have dominated the underground UK dance scene. They have concocted piles of remixes, all of which have become legends in sweaty basement clubs across the land. On top of this, James Ford, who with James Shaw formed SMD from the spoils of their original band Simian, has produced hit albums from Mystery Jets, Klaxons and the recently released Favourite Worst Nightmare by Arctic Monkeys. But forget all that now, because now it's their turn to pen the tunes. And by God don't they just know how to do it. This album has summer anthems scattered across its bedroom floor like a strangers clothes after last night's rave. Attack Decay Sustain Release refers to the modulation section found on most electronic musical equipment. Sleep Deprivation is the track that gets proceedings underway, and even... Read review

There Will Be Sorrow, No More
Review of Process Of Belief, The - Bad Religion by  RazzaLazza

Advantages: A strong album packed full of melodic punk rock anthems.
Disadvantages: Not as hard hitting as some of the bands albums.

...'The Process of Belief' is the twelfth studio album released by the American punk rock band that is Bad Religion. The album was released in 2002 and saw the band return to the Epitaph record label for the first time in nine years. Four albums were released during the bands time away from the Epitaph label (all of which were released through major label Atlantic), 'The Process of Belief' was the first Bad Religion album released on Epitaph since the release of 'Recipe for Hate' in 1993. The album consists of fourteen tracks and provides for 37 minutes of listening enjoyment. 'Supersonic' provides this 'The Process of Belief' album with an absolutely excellent opening anthem, it's an incredibly well put across piece of music and an exquisitely fine way to begin this album release. Never does the music disappoint here, throughout... Read review

The Rape and Ruin of Angels
Review of Blacken The Angel - Agathodaimon by  Frankingsteins

Advantages: Nice background music, if you're partial to it.
Disadvantages: Songs don't stand strong on their own.

...Germany's Agathodaimon (named after an ancient alchemist) followed loyally in the footsteps of black metal bands such as England's Cradle of Filth and Norway's Dimmu Borgir by infusing their dark music with increasingly prominent symphonic elements, eventually abandoning black metal altogether and heading into the bland pastures of generic gothic garbage. The one part of the process they failed to mimic was the bit where they sign the large record contract and receive loads of money, cars, undefiled virgins and things, but everyone makes mistakes. 'Blacken the Angel' is the band's first full-length album following a number of demos and shorter releases, and it will certainly appeal to fans of those aforementioned bands as well as fans of melodic- or symphonic-based extreme metal in general, though it's destined to be something...
