This is the 5th book in the Detective Carson Ryder series. The story is based on a mysterious death of a TV Evangelist and a discovery of a baby. There are many players involved in this and it leads back to an unsuspected candidate. There is a high number of racial attacks in this book and quite a few are aimed at Carson?s partner Harry Nautilus.
I was a bit dubious about reading this as I?ve read the first in the series and weren?t too sure about it. But this book has certainly converted me. I felt the relationships were stronger and although Carson was having problems his friends stuck by him. I will definitely be going back and reading the rest of the series now. ...

I have seen, heard and even read a great deal about Peter James without even picking up any of his novels. So I decided it was time I corrected this, as everything I heard about him and his novels was positive. When I was in the library the other day I saw this one so I decided it was time I corrected this state of affairs.
About the author:
Peter James was born in England in 1948 and educated at Charterhouse school. He is a very successful author and two of his books have been transferred very successfully into films. He has written 17 novels plus five in the Detective Superintendent Roy Grace series. The book I am reviewing was written in 1988.

Following a visit to Camp Blood, during which she and her friends were attacked by someone wearing a clown mask, Tricia has been spending time locked up on a psychiatric ward, accused of having killed her friends. Although she was the sole survivor, it seems proof is thin on the ground, so Tricia is allowed to go free - but her psychiatrists think it would be a good idea for her to face the problem. This involves helping a creepy director to make a film of what happened at Camp Blood, with Tricia as the Technical Advisor.
