Advantages: Great lyrics, some brilliant songs Disadvantages: Some average songs, interrupts the flow.
As stereophonics albums go, I was expecting one that was not going to be up to the first 5. I was wrong. The opener Soldiers Make God Targets is a rip roaring start to the album, with the chorus that sticks in your head for a long time after you listen to it. Pass The Buck continues in a similar vain, it is very impressive, returning to the harder side of the phonics that we saw on the early stuff.

Lead single It Means Nothing, is a powerful ballad that apitimises the fantastic song writing ability of Kelly Jones. Bank Holiday Monday, is a great sing-a-long and the lyrics show that Kelly is still in touch with common issues. Daisy Lane is one of the weaker tracks but still has the ability to touch the soul with the lyrics, when one of the weaker songs still has this quality, you know it is a a great album. Stone is another ballad which has fantastic lyrics and oozes the quality that has been such a prominent feature of the phonics career. My Friends and I Could Lose Ya are two songs that return to the more up-tempo songs that we're used to from classic phonics singles, both songs are great examples of how the phonics put lyrics to music so effortlessly. Bright Red Star seems to be a bit empty being one of Kelly's solo songs that has migrated onto this album. To be honest, the album doesnt need it. Lady Luck is an alright song but it doesnt have the kick of the others, or the meaning i feel. Still on a pop album today, this would be the number one song by a distance. The last two tracks Crush and Drowning are both good songs, Crush being the superior, an excellent guitar song.
If you haven't bought this album at fear of disappointment, trust me you will not be disappointed, this is a great album, and well worth the wait.
Advantages: Their best studi album to date. Disadvantages: Not everyones taste
Over the past 10 years the Stereophonics have gone strength to strength and with there 6th studio album they dont dissapoint. its leading track "it means nothing" is just a hint of whats to come with its melodic sounds and passionate vocals. as a massive stereophonics fan ( just saw them live in bournemouth ) this is a must have for all phonics fans. Combining the Rural acoustic sounds of their first album ( performance and cocktails ) with the soft ... ...this album is a truly unique indie rock experience. Other tracks to look out for include stone, lady luck, i could lose ya, the live faviroute bank holiday monday and there next single " my friends " overall possibly the best album ive ever bought , it really is that good. hope this has helped. Advantages: New songs from a great band Disadvantages: Just a slight waver towards the end
Im always a bit apprehensive about a new album from a band, that i have booked tickets to see, and fortunateley this does not dissapoint.
The album opens in a similar way to the previous album, with a news report before bursting into an awesome guitar riff, a real belter of a song could be a live favourite. Secont track "Pass the buck", is also another fresh song, that sounds great, with an exellent chorus. Track s 3 and 4 we have already heard ... ...had before the album "bank holiday Monday".
Track 5 "Daisy Lane" is the real highlight for me, a slower song, wit ha great melody, and greeat lyrics, an all round belter of a song. "stone" follows suit being another slower track, but with Kelly Jones vocals really shining, then "my Friends", the next single to be released, which brings us back to the more rocky sound from the start of the album. Then the album starts to waver a bit with "i could ...

Aside from the two tracks already realsed, (It means nothing, and bank holiday monday) the album seems of a very similar calibre to language Sex Violence Other. They both seem to hold a structure, to be honest a pretty dull one, there are no tracks that immediatley jump out and bite yu on the backside (so to speak.) it doesnt grab me as a listener and if you\'re trying to relax listening to this album i can guarantee you will fall asleep! i have ... ...relased monday and its now thursday. if you are a die-hard \'phonics fan then maybe, just maybe it will float your boat, but for new audiences it will just put you right off an otherwise brilliant band. this album fautures a few interestng riff and lyrics in \"i could lose ya\" but other than that its all a biyt mediocre, which dissapoints as im a fan, a big fan! ...
