Advantages: Good Rock Track Disadvantages: A little short, indistinct in places
...I have already reviewed the Stereophonics 1997 debut album 'Word Gets Around' but only gave comment on selected tracks and 'Looks Like Chaplin' wasn't one of them, however having just listened to the track again and given the benefit of hindsight I thought that it was worth passing comment on this track which was re.
The track, which is short at just 2 minutes and 32 seconds like the rest of the album is essentially a rock track and seems to me to tells the sad tale of a lonely and man who has become slightly odd and eccentric, gets taunted and ends up being taken into care. In places the vocals are a little indistinct which spoils what is otherwise a good track.
I've said it before in other reviews but have no choice but to say it again, if this sounds like your things then go and get the album rather than hunt around for the single...

Advantages: His heartffelt songs are lovely 2 listen to. Disadvantages: Too slow, he's much better singing faster songs.
...he wanted to put his own work on the disk but I was disapointed that he didn't do some songs he preformed in Ally McBeal.
My favourite song on this album has to be "Smile" by CharlieChaplin, sung by RDJ. This song never fails to make me smile, especially when he sings it.
Songs like Man Like Me show that's he's trying to rise above his bad past and become a new man. 5.30 is also a lovely song to listen to.
If you didn't really get on with this cd, buy season 4 of Ally McBeal and you'll see his real talent. I think the songs on this album are pretty much all the same and his vocals arn't as good as he was when he was on Ally Mcbeal.
My favourite song on this album "Smile" is really worth listening to, especially since it was recorded in only one take, you can really here the emotion behind his voice.
If you do like this cd, have...

Advantages: Great fun and a real treat to listen to... Disadvantages: A few of the tracks are a little under par

To be fair, I have only the vaguest idea of what it is about (the romance shared between Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks and their marriage to which CharlieChaplin was invited seems to make up the main crux of the lyrics) but even if you don't know your hollywood history, the song is still a very catchy little number with some truly humourous lines ("he had a moustache, must...
