...A lot better than boyband, it comes to life to inspire you. The Lot boasts all of Madness' studio albums, each one digitally remastered and now including four videos each. It also comes with a glossy 36 - page booklet chronicling the band's career. Now the Nutty Boys were never really renouned as an album's band, but this collection is surprisingly easy on the ear, if a little over generous. However, their latest album, the recently released Wonderful, is missing from this puportedly comprehensive collection which is a shame as it quickly proved itself to be one of the band's most enjoyable and cohesive. Still The Lot is still an impressive and economical stocking filler. Or why not buy ir for yourself?... Read review

Advantages: Greatest live album from the world's greatest live band
Disadvantages: Other than actually being there in the flesh, none.

...Possibly the best concert recording ever commited to tape. The sound quality is superb, capturing the Who at their very best. Compared to "The Who Live at the Isle of White 1970" they sound tighter and Moon in particular (whose drums aren't captured well at the Isle of White) sounds like a man posessed. Anyone who doubts his title of "Rock's greatest drummer" should hear this. The others are on form too and the band play blistering versions of "A Quick One" and a 13-minute version of "My Generation" in which one can here the band almost draw the song to a close, before Townshend leads them off into uncharted territory. Well, I say uncharted, knowing the Who I'm sure they were in perfect control at all times This 25th anniversary remastering add several new tracks not on the original vinyl. Advantages: Great acoustic music
Disadvantages: some tracks are not how you know them

...I don't often listen to Radio 1, but this one time I did, they were playing only tracks recorded in the live lounge - And I Loved It. the songs were not remastered and you could hear the lyrics and music without all the extras that make some people buy their tracks. The copies by artists of other artists songs are of superb quality, and some really make it their own. When I listen to them I just love the fact that they are live recordings with no additionals. Its great that artists are comfortable with singing live, acoustic, and other peoples songs. By listening to the tracks you can tell which artists can sing and which artists definately need to remaster their tracks to sell their singles/albums. Or which need to lip synch for their live gigs. I'll let you make up your own mind who you think these artists are out of artists like... Read review
