...As we haven't been camping for about 4 years and the youngest had never been we decided she was old enough to take the plunge. We decided we didn't want to travel too far and only stay 3 nights as we didn't know what she would be like. We guessed that she would love it as once she is outside she doesn't want to come back in. I trawled the internet looking to book somewhere - most said 'No need to book just come along' Some suggested phoning on the day. We didn't want to do this as we prefer booking with children so we know where we are going. I came across 'The Quiet Site' a campsite in Ullswater which is about one hour 30 mins drive away from us -perfect. It had its own website so I checked it out. Disadvantages: If the weather has been wet, the ground will become very boggy, the fairground rides are also quite expensive

...At this time of year, a vast majority of people attend a firework display in their local town or village. We live in a rural area, and although our part of the country lacks transport, and things for youngsters in their teenage years to amuse themselves with, the local firework display is as popular now as it ever has been. The Big Night out is now in its 34th year. The event is organised by Project Seven, a local charity organisation, in conjunction with the local newspaper, The East Anglian Daily Times, and is a firework extravaganza on a grand scale.
