Literally... All In A Day's Work

Advantages: Lots of big tunes
Disadvantages: Quite short

Despite not initially intending to do so, the Brooklyn-raised rapper Saigon constructed (wrote and recorded) his second album in just 24 hours, and so appropriately named the project "All In A Day's Work". With it starting off as a normal studio session, it features the production of only one producer, Statik Selektah, who pushes this 2009 album as something which fits in with what the New York rapper represents. 1. Credo - I believe in cinema

Advantages: Beautiful, artistic, accessible
Disadvantages: Some may be put off by the subtitling

. A boy who became obsessed with the cinema and who, in turn made it his life. The mystique of the cinema remains to this day and, for this reason alone I think the film works. We can all empathise with the feelings yet still know nothing of the circumstance. The culmination of the story sees us torn between sadness and pure joy as some of the best cinematic moments of years gone by are played in succession, a very irreverent freeing of the soul. The characterisation in the film is first class, the only weakness perhaps being the adult Salvatore (or Toto) with whom we get little opportunity to know. The direction and acting serve to draw the audience into the story and you genuinely feel part of the action. That you finish the film wondering just what has passed in the preceding 2 hours is, I think, testament to the quality ...

As time goes by...

Advantages: See text.
Disadvantages: See text.

I would just like to write a review of As Time Goes By, a comedy series shown originally on the BBC but in more recent times shown on G.O.L.D. The series starts when Lionel (Geoffrey Palmer) is looking for a secretary to help him with his book, on life In Kenya when he was based there during the war. He comes across a temping agency run by Jean (Judi Dench), but unbeknown to both of them they both knew each other before the war and before Lionel goes off to war. He ends up marrying (or so we are lead to believe although it is not actually too clear as to what happened to his wife), and Jean is a widower with a grown up daughter (who also works for her mum in the family business). Their friendship starts to blossom again, to the point where they decide to 'make a go' of things again - to the delight of Jean's daughter, who never ...
