If you're like me and a huge fan of popular music, then Jo Whiley's live lounge will be one of your addictions.

Jo is famous for having fab guests during her show who pop into the 'live lounge' in Maida Vale. The guests will play a couple of their own songs live along with a cover of someone elses which now happens traditionally.

Occasionally the covers are amazing, whether they are copied almost exactly or given their own little twist to them. This 2 disco C.D. covers what Jo considers to be the most memorable covers and originals.

The C.D. has two discs worth of tracks with 20 on each, which is good value for money considering you get intotal 40 songs!

The highlights for me are: the Arctic Monkeys singing Love Machine by Girls Aloud. Their cheeky Sheffield accents bring out the jovial and fun poking lyrics included in the song which perhaps you hadn't noticed when Nadine and her girls sing. It also great to hear the sniggers and giggles as they struggle to hit the high notes or leave one band member to sing on his own!

Boy Kill Boy who are a great up and coming indie band cover Nelly Furtado's recent number one, Maneater. However at first its barely recognisable as their put their own spin on the song.

Will young manages to turn the comedic Hey Ya by Outkast into a soulful and unforgettable track - he's certainly more than a reality tv show star showing his talent at protraying the lyrics with emotion.

Keane Cover U2's With or Without you, an all time great song, which you would almost cringe at the thought of someone else trying to do. However they pull it off superbly with gorgeous, soft almost tinkling keyboard in the intro and Tom's soothing voice singing the famous lyrics.

Along with these covers there are brilliant live versions of the artist's own songs, Basment Jaxx' chilled out Romeo, Queen's of The Stoneage do a fantastic acoustic version of no-one knows with brilliant cockiness during 'the hard part'.

A simply wonderful C.D. to own which many Radio 1 listeners snapped up as soon as it hit the stores. It also has a personal feel to it, like you're in the room with the artists, sharing their jokes and giggling along with them.

If you like popular music this is definately a CD for your christmas lists.
