Radio 1 DJ Jo Whiley has got hold of some of the worlds best artists to perform in the Live Lounge. Not only to perform there own tracks but to perform another artists song in their own style. The Live Lounge has become an integral part of her show and becuase of its success, the Live Lounge 2CD was released.

The Live Lounge sessions enable artists to let listeners hear what they are all about. The live and unrehearsed sessions allow the listeners to appreciate what an artist is really like (and how they can sign without digital enhancements)!!

The Live Lounge has encouraged artist to reproduce covers of their own personal favourite artists or tracks. Some of these have been truely outstanding as any listener to Jo Whiley's show will know.

Can you imagine hearing The Automatic covering Kanye West, or Franz Ferdinand covering Gwen Stefani, or even Corinne Bailey Rae covering Munich?

With a lot of pushing from the fans of the show, there was now doubt that the BBC would have to release an album of the very best bits of the Live Lounge sessions.

As accomplished as such moments are, however, it’s the cover versions that provide some of the definite highlights of this particular listening experience.

Other artists include The Kooks covering Gnarls Barkley, The Automatic covering Kanye West. All just very very special moments.

The CD contains 38 tracks. As a live album it is very good, however, a little dissapointing when I found myself skipping tracks to get to the next "good" one. Many of the tracks are great but when I think back to all the fantastic tracks I have heard on Radio 1, I can't help but wonder why they aren't on the compilation.

My recommendation is to borrow a copy from a friend.

The track listing is as follows:

Disc: 1

Foo Fighters – DOA
Arctic Monkeys – Love Machine
Snow Patrol – Run
The Kooks – Crazy
Razorlight – Golden Touch
Corinne Bailey Rae – Munich

Lemar – I Believe In A Thing Called Love
Will Young – Hey Ya
Hard Fi – Tied Up Too Tight
Oasis – Songbird

Disc: 2

Keane – With Or Without You
K T Tunstall – Other Side Of The World
