Advantages: Fast paced, easy going, likeable main character Disadvantages: Lack of character development
When I go on holiday there is nothing I like more than a good chick lit book and I was very relieved when I got to the villa we were renting to find a huge selection just waiting for me to delve into! Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend was the perfect book for this occasion - not one I would have chosen myself having read one of Jenny Colgan's previous offerings, West End Girls, and found it not especially gripping, but one that I was more than happy to pick up to read around the pool while toasting myself a nice golden brown.

This film is quite a modern version of fairytales-like movies such as Cinderella. I have to admit that this was the first movie I watched with Jenifer Lopez (I've always considered her as a singer rather than an actress!), and after having watched lots of her other performances after Maid in Manhattan, I have to say that she was at her peak performance in this film. The movie is really romantic and fun, without any of these deep brooding intensity that are found in overly-romantic ones. I would rather call Maid in Manhattan as another dimension of Pretty Woman. I will not say that it is as romantic or was well done as Pretty Woman but it comes close to. ** BRIEF PLOT?
Raquel, (Tessa Peake-Jones) is expecting a visit from her parents and is worried that them meeting Del, (David Jason) for the first time may be a little overwhelming.
Meanwhile, Del is worried about Rodney, (Nicholas Lyndhurst) and Cassandra, (Gwyneth Strong), after their recent trauma, so when Uncle Albert, (Buster Merryfield) comes up with an idea to take Rodney?s mind off his loss they give it a go, only for the plan to backfire.
