She certainly has changed direction in all of a hurry....and hasn’t changed a bit. The big single here is ‘Heartbreaker’ and as you might have noticed does bare a passing resemblance to her previous hit ‘Fantasy’. Although really was there a need for two versions, one for her and the other where it’s taken over by Da Brat and Missy Elliott? Essentially, this is an album about getting over HER heartbreak, you can’t feel any sympathy for her. A moderate change of image that’s now gone full-blown (have you noticed how many clothes she’s wearing nowadays?) and having embraced hip-hop rather too religiously, you’ve got to be wondering where she’s heading. This isn’t what you’d expect from her and is mostly turgid stuff. And it doesn’t help that she seems to cover Phil Collins’ ‘Against All Odds’ note-for-note either. Although 'Ex-Girlfriend' might make a good single though.

Advantages: The album cover does make for interesting discussions about the decline in the faith of pop divas Disadvantages: The quality of the songs, perhaps? Still, the album cover’s supposed to keep your mind off all that.
