Advantages: mellow, musical Disadvantages: too folky for some
...It's not easy getting a new musician onto the ciao list, and once again it hasn't quite worked. The album 'of fire, wind and silver stream' is indeed a folk album, but the artist is NickHennessey, not Faith Hill as stated above. I'm hoping this will get resolved, in the meantime, here's the op.
NickHennessey is posessed of a fantastic mellow and expressive singing voice. In addition to this, he plays the harp, gets a really good sound out of the tin whistle and has been known to weild a squeeze box. Live he really is impressive, and adds story telling into the mix. Inevitably the recording lacks some of the sparkle you get with a live event, but its rather good none the less.
Tracks:
A Call - short musical introduction.
The Generous Lover - traditional song, unaccompanied, about a girl being messed about by her bloke.
Carolan...

Advantages: Nick Drake's Greatest Hits Disadvantages: May disuade a new listener from listening to his 3 original albums
...The first time you hear a Nick Drake song it takes some convincing that such mature, yet emotionally fragile poetry sprang from someone so young. Having his life tragically cut short at the tender age of 26 in 1974, it is a further tragedy that Nick Drake is still a relatively undiscovered musical genius. Most new listeners today (myself included) seem to stumble across his music on an advert, a coverdisk or background TV music but once you make the discovery, it will guarantee a lifetime of listening pleasure. "Way to Blue" is an excellent collection of arguably Nick Drake's greatest songs and one of those rare CD's that you rarely grow tired of and can take out and play again and again as if revisiting an old friend. This CD will either keep you happy in the knowledge that you have most of his best songs on one CD or encourage you...

Advantages: Some Good City related songs Disadvantages: A lot more bad ones
...To be honest I expected a CD that proclaims to contain 'The Songs of Cardiff City' to be a lot better than this.
For some reason it contains 'Cardiff Born' by Frank Hennessey now how on earth this could be portrayed as a Cardiff City song is beyond me, I've been watching City for over 20 years and I've never heard that sang down there.
I meant where is 'Hey Jude' by The Beatles, maybe they couldn't afford the royalties!! Ok so it's got 'Men of Harlech' twice but apart from that there are no other songs that I would readily associate with the Bluebirds. Let's be honest city are about the only team in the entire league not to play that infuriating 'Tom Hark' by the Piranhas but for some reason it's included on here, Why??
To be honest it looks like they ran out of ideas halfway through production and decided to lob anything on there...
