Advantages: groundbreaking world changing music
Disadvantages: none

...competition brought himself a bass and mastered the basics of playing it. He did however play sideways on from the audience do disguise his hesitation at playing. By that time the band played at the local rock 'n' roll club the Casbah, owned by a couple called the Best's. Their son Pete Best who was eighteen could play drums, and while the Quarrymen played at the bar, Pete became their stand in drummer. The group, now renamed Johnny and the Moondogs, were asked to play in Germany Hamburg, in a local club, and the band including Pete travelled to Hamburg where they played up to eight hour sets per night, delved into drugs and beer, and lived in appalling conditions. At Hamburg they recorded a song as the backing band 'The Beat Brothers' for Tony Sheridan singing a rock 'n' roll version of 'My Bonnie'. George was deported from Hamburg for been... Read review

How it is!
Review of Lifeblood - Manic Street Preachers by debz4912

Advantages: A whopping 10 out of 12 tracks are good!
Disadvantages: Thoughts of getting older!!

...I must confess to not having heard a lot of material from these guys in the past. However after hearing several tracks from their new album 'Lifeblood' I was intrigued to hear some of their older material. This, their seventh album is the one i like best. It gives the sense the guys really enjoyed making this album. The music is more spirited and catchy than previous efforts. Their are 12 tracks on the album of which 10 are supberb, although it may take a while for some of the songs to grow on you, unless of course you are a hard manic fan!! 10 out of 12 is really quite impressive as most artists rarely achieve 3/4 of their material being loved to an equal extent. The best track is possibly A Song For Departure, with its great dynamics, blend and uniquness of vocals making it a must. The majority of the lyrics are a reflection... Read review

Glamourous Rock with stories to tell.
Review of Hot Fuss - Killers by dessertgirl09

Advantages: Its different from most of the music we listen to today. Its really fresh.
Disadvantages: I would think there is none but however, there are people who are just punk rock.

...Every single song on HOT FUSS by the killers tell a dramatic story. Lead singer Brandon Flowers has a voice that has the ability to illustrate all that. I was suprised to find out that they were american because it is certainly rare for an american band to come out with such innovative material. "Mr Brightside" is a beautiful rock number of a story of love, betrayal, denial and helplessness whereas "Somebody Told Me" is a sneer tongue in cheek talk back song especially to your ex girlfriend. Then there are other fine tracks like "Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine", "Andy You're A star" which at times may make you wonder if they are trying to be british. Either way, Hot Fuss is one album not to be missed.... Read review
