first time a compiler has been able to combine the chart-topping hits from his Atlantic and ABC-Paramount years into one package. This means that we get the Genius's hits from 1953's "Mess Around" right through his golden R&B Atlantic era ("I've Got a Woman", "Drown in My Own Tears", "Hallelujah I Love Her So", "I Believe To My Soul", "What'd I Say" and so on) alongside tracks that were not only massive worldwide hits but helped redefine popular music. "Georgia on My Mind", "Hit The Road Jack", "Unchain My Heart", "I Can't Stop Loving You" and "You Don't Know Me" not only combined superior standards and country songs with Charles's patented soul-gospel vocal style, but they were couched in an orchestral or big band setting that had simply never been utilised in this way prior to Charles's arrival. Those who know of his thorough musical background will not be surprised by this development, one that kept him high in the charts until the mid-60s. This compilation thins out after the classic "In The Heat of the Night", as well it should, his latter-day duets with the Blues Brothers and Willie Nelson tidying thing up nicely. Genius plus compilation good taste: an unbeatable combination. --Keith Shadwick
Advantages: Its Ray Charles Disadvantages: Its not the real Ray Charles
...RayCharles, the man was a musical Genius of this there is no doubt at all. Genuis is a far too frequently used word these days with very few deserving of the accolade.
So Genius loves company, how does it measure up? Its a nice album of duets featuring the great man and some of todays other musicians.
It is a nice album with some very nice tracks but it doesn't give a good representation of Ray at his finest.
The best three tracks for my money were:
Here we go again - Featuring Norah Jones
It was a very good year - Featuring Willie Nelson
You don't know me - Featuring Diana Krall
Genius Love Company is definately worth owning if just for these three tracks.
If you would like to experience RayCharles i would recommend that you purchase The Definitive RayCharles double CD a much more complete picture of the man....

Advantages: Ray Charles Greatest Hits ! Disadvantages: ?
..."As long as I can remember, music has always been something extraordinary in my life." RayCharles
On September 23, 1930 a star was born. This star is to blame because I'm writing a review about his music today…RayCharles Robinson.
I think everybody knows who RayCharles is, or at least saw the recent movie about his life, Ray…
RayCharlesRay was born in Albany, Georgia and grew up in Greenville, Florida…maybe his childhood could be a normal happy one if it was not to happen for his brother to die and him to be there to see it. After this unhappy incident, at the age of 6 he started to lose his sight from glaucoma…
At the age of 7 Ray was send to St. Augustine School for the Deaf and Blind where, besides learning how to read and write in Braille he took piano, clarinet, and saxophone lessons…
After he left school, Ray...

Advantages: Funny, clever, catchy songs Disadvantages: Same old problems with hip-hop
...of RayCharles, and Jamie Foxx doing an impression of RayCharles, it's got a great tune and beat. It also has some very funny lyrics, showing off West's brilliant writing skills.
Track 2: Heard 'Em Say
This features Adam Levine from Maroon 5, who is just one of a number of famous-ish collaborators on the album (Jay-Z, The Game, Brandy, Cam'ron, and apparently Bernie Mac, although he's not credited), not to mention the countless samples used (including Bill Withers, Curtis Mayfield, Etta James and Otis Redding). It's a nice song with a delicate piano tune in the background; certainly not what you'd expect from your average rapper.
Track 3: Touch The Sky
This is the latest single to be released, and it's a real feel-good tune, with a catchy sample from Move On Up forming the main hook.
On the rest of the album, West continually...

Advantages: the master on it's best Disadvantages: to be the rael best of Ray Charles
...I am aware of some of RayCharles work but this one was the one I acquire as being the "father of soul music”. Maybe impressed that "Genius loves company" was the last album that he recorded, his music seems evolved in a "blues-esco" spirit full of nostalgic.
Composed with twelve duets, the album represents thirteen songs that with out a thought sparkles RayCharles genius and the magic of is guests. Ray’s voice it's in a terrific shape even with is age and his long disease, lets say that it is not as strong as it used to be but that way to put emotion and sentiment into his music is still there.
The songs are great...actually they are real classics...I remember to ear his voice for the first time in "You don't know" on his original track and I really loved it, a and it is today one of my favourites. With this album I had...

...After his unexpected death, Raycharles left 60 years of his time on his record label, making timeless music, with mixture of jazz, blues, gospel, country, soul, and rock ’n‘ roll.
There was something very memorable about his unforgettable performances, he truely inspired alot of modern artists with his music.
This new released album is duet album...every song is a duet with the worlds hottest soul/jazz singers: Nelson, Norah Jones, Natalie Cole, Bonnie Raitt and many more.
it has to be said that he does shine the most with his duets, for example of a very heart moving duet is "Here We Go Again" feat the new shining talent Nora Jones, a soul beat ballad, a beautifull romantic recreation.
The duet with James Taylor "Sweet Potato" which shifts into neo-soul sounds, with gitar riffs and the very unmissable saxaphone.
"You dont know...
