Ray Of Light was released in 1998 and on the album are 6 tracks that reached the charts which are as follows: Substitute For Love, Ray Of Light, Nothing Really Matters, Frozen, The Power Of Good-Bye and Little Star.

There are three tracks which I’m not to keen on which are Candy Perfume Girl and Shanti/Ashtangt and Mer Girl.

The tracks Swim and Skin I found to be ok but I prefer the tracks Sky Fits Heaven and To Have And Not To Hold.

Of course I love Nothing Really Matters, Ray Of Light, The Power Of Good-Bye and Frozen.

Now I’ll move on to what each track means and what I thought of each track here goes hope you enjoy reading.

Track1: Substitute For Love

The song itself is about realising the mistake you have made by choosing fame over love. It’s also about changing your mind and wanting that someone back in your life. I do like this song but it’s not one of my favourites. This actually would be my 6th favourite from the album.

Track2: Swim

This song is about not wanting to carry sins around with you anymore and starting again and getting rid of all the sins you have done. This is an ok song but doesn’t really do anything for me.

Track3: Ray Of Light

I think this song is a very catchy tune and quite a happy tune with a good beat to it, well that’s what I think of it when I hear it. I do like this song it’d be my 5th favourite on the album. I’m not quite sure what this song is supposed to be about but I’d say it’s a very spiritual song.

Track4: Candy Perfume Girl

I didn’t like this song at all as I found it to be to slow and boring plus it was quite repetitive, i.e not many other words apart from Candy Perfume Girl. I think this song is about a relationship between a girl and boy but then again I’m not to sure.

Track5: Skin

Skin is about getting close to someone and feeling your missing out on affection. Also about needing that someone’s protection. This song is ok but I found it to be like Swim, not doing anything for me. I’d say when Madonna write this song it’s got something along the lines to do with her not being married or in a secure relationship and needing all that.

Track6: Nothing Really Matters

Nothing Really Matters is about being selfish when your young and now your all grown up realising that love is all you need. It’s basically about when you were young just caring about yourself and no one else mattered. It has meaningful lyric’s. This would be my 2nd favourite on the album.

Track7: Sky Fits Heaven

The song itself is about the future and what things mean in life. I think this song could of done quite well if it had of been released as a single.

Track8: Shanti/Ashtangi

This song isn’t English but I think it’s to do with god and church. This song is taken from the yoga taravali, which I think is spoken in Hindu.

Track9: Frozen

This song is about if you lose someone you love then your heart will be broken. It’s also about forgiving someone and giving yourself to them. And you have both suffered the same. It’s about someone wasting there time with hate and regret. This would be my 4th favourite of the album.

Track10: The Power Of Good-Bye

The Power Of Good-Bye is quite a sad song really. It’s about letting go of someone and leaving them and saying your final good byes. I love this song so this would be my 1st favourite on the album.

Track11: To Have And Not To Hold

To Have And Not To Hold is about giving all your love to someone but not getting any love back. And about someone not letting someone get to close to them. I think this could of done well if it had of been released as a single.

Track12: Little Star

This song was actually written for Madonna’s daughter Laurdes. It’s about finding someone who means everything to you. Also it’s about caring and wanting the best for someone. I think this is a lovely song and it makes me feel all tingly when I hear it. This would have to be my 3rd favourite on this album.

Track13: Mer Girl

This song has a lot to do with the death of Madonna’s mother and how she is still affected by it. It’s a very slow song, I’d say it’s more vocalist rather than music.

I think this album’s good but not as good as The Immaculate Collection but I guess for any Madonna fan you’d buy all her albums, I would like to but it’s having the money to buy them.
