Hurrah! AC/DC have finally realised some of their huge studio potential! After a period in the eighties of releasing some dire albums, AC/DC have done their best work in a decade.
Not since Back in Black have AC/DC managed to write very good tracks on a regular basis. 3 of the songs on this album alone went on to become concert staples, Thunderstruck, Moneytalks and Fire Your Guns.
They are the first three tracks, but don't stop listening there, ... ...is yet to come. At number 4, The Razors Edge is a fast paced riff from Angus, mixed with a blast of power chords from Malcolm. It's here when you know the brothers are back on form big time.
There are a couple of weak links, I won't beat about the bush. Mistress for Christmas is bland and shows a worrying repetition of what the band tried and failed in the eighties.
There are still a couple of good tracks to come though. Are You Ready sounds like ...

It was in Glasgow, Scotland that Angus Young and his brother Malcolm invented the famous rock/heavy metal band AC/DC, who were/did rock the whole world.
(Angus plays the electric guitar while dressed up as a school boy, he’s quite funny to watch performing) The music is meant to be heavy metal with the screams of electric guitars and screeching of high pitched singers, but it isn’t. I would call it ‘soft rock’, where you ... ...the lyrics.
Razors Edge has some terrific songs, such as ‘Thunderstruck’, ‘Are You Ready’ and ‘Money Talks’. If you listen to the album, you’ll be guaranteed to have a sore neck the following day as you just can’t help but to a little light head banging.
Tracks on the album are:
Thunderstruck
Fire Your Guns Moneytalks The Razors Edge Mistress For Christmas Rock Your Heart Out Are You Ready Got You ...

Advantages: Rocking / Classic / Timeless Disadvantages: No dvd included!
...The razorsedge is a prime example of epic AC/DC: all killer riffs and tough - as - nails song craft. Nor is there any lack of the lads' signature, slyly salacious lyrics touching on the eternal verities: hard liquor, cheap sex, fast money and the endless quest for a good time. Like all AC/DC albums, the razorsedge is designed to rock you. But beyond that, the 1990 release marked a pivotal point in the long and eventful career of rock's most enduring riot brigade.
Rock was running rudderless at the dawn of the nineties. Hair metal was on the wane. Punk was just a memory, and still years away from revival as a commercial formula. But AC/DC had just completed a hook-heavy album that would catapult them to new heights!
The RazorsEdge is one of AC/DC's grandest albums, this re mastered version is described as 'the ultimate AC/DC...

Advantages: Loud, bad and one of the last great albums of rock. Disadvantages: Commericalism was knocking on the door and the light of rebellion was starting to die out..
...ten in May 1986. This 1990 album, 'The RazorsEdge,' heralded the mark of a difficult time for the band who could only rely heavily on their faithful fan base. Music had changed dramatically over the Eighties and into the Nineties and there seemed no pigeon hole for an aging pure rock band whose sound never swayed from middle aged reassurance.
Still riding high on commercialism, it appeared that AC/DC had settled comfortably into the pop charts and felt it the best and safest way to make their living. The public enjoyed the diversity of this sturdy band sitting amongst the dance ditties and swoonfull love operas floating around the charts at this time. Since the fans could not distinguish one album from another, it didn't make any difference to the band who was behind it all. Who cared that 'Blow Up Your Video,'(1988) sounded...

...the fact that he doesn't sing more of his own material. Additionally, the Johnson era material that is here isn't always the best stuff. "Are You Ready," "That's The Way I Wanna Rock 'n' Roll," and "Who Made Who" pale in comparison to songs that were not played such as "Guns For Hire," "Flick Of The Switch," and "Put The Finger On You."
Despite the fact that the band's best days were obviously behind them, a live album for AC/DC was all but completely necessary. After all, the group's first live release, If You Want Blood You've Got It, was recorded at a time when AC/DC was nothing more than a cult act who had yet to produce many of its future rock staples. Though recorded well into their career on the Razor's Edge 1991 tour, AC/DC Live surprisingly captures the hype and excitement that made AC/DC such a hit in their heyday. The set list...
