Advantages: totally rocks! Disadvantages: not to everyone's taste
...last couple of years. While Razorblade Romance is not their best-selling album (at least in the UK), it is probably their best. The first track "Your Sweet 666" (a different version to the one on their debut album Greatest Lovesongs Volume 666 - this one is a bit more "keyboardy" and has been produced very differently) is a great hard rock track - you'll soon find yourself making "the horns" with your hands, playing air guitar and singing along to ... ...the excellent "Love's Requiem", whereas Razorblade maintains interest all the way through. HIM are very different to much of the mainstream and their lyrical combinations of love and death make a refreshing change to the cliched love songs of many other rock bands that sound cynically designed to attract adoring female fanbases. The dark romance of HIM's unconventional love songs has attracted male and female fans without turning to too many of the ...

Advantages: bright pink cd! Disadvantages: some songs reminiscent of each other
...Gone With The Sin
9. Razorblade Kiss
10. Resurrection
11. Death Is In Love With Us
12. Heaven Tonight Your Sweet 666 is an old song, from the Greatest Love Songs Vol.666 album, but redone in a new style. This is an epic song, starts with some loud monster driving riffs, then fades into quieter drum and bass backing, with Ville singing over the top. The loud riffing comes back in for the very catchy chorus. Poison Girl is a more laid back song, ... ...song on the album!
Razorblade Kiss, hmm controversial title! One of the better songs in this half of the album, catchy and emotional chorus, interesting lyrics too, this song gets better as it goes along.
Resurrection is another slow song, a v nice and relaxing chillout song.
Death Is In Love With Us is a good song, one of my favourite songs on the album. Has some very catchy lyrics and a cool tune.
Heaven Tonight is an odd choice to close the ...

Finnish-ed Rock Review ofRazorblade Romance - HIMby
scousejoe
Advantages: Cover of Chris isaaks' Wicked game, enrgetic guitars, deep lyrics Disadvantages: maybe too raw for some
...say i wasn't dissapointed. Razorblade Romance (their second album) is a joy from begining to end with the highlight surely being the cover of Wicked Game. Completely opposite to the original with guitars that invade your ear drums but with vocals that show the pain of the lyrics it fits in perfectly on the album.
Razorblade Romance starts as it means to continue with 'Your Sweet 666' grabbing your attention straight away with its heavy guitars and ... ...you to feel the true pain of the song. This theme continues throughout the album, tracks such as 'Poison girl' and 'Right here in my arms' following the same approach but with enough variation so you could never get bored.
The one song which could be classed as the slow song, which evry album seems to have to have, is actually one of the best on the album. 'Gone with the sin' uses beautifully understated vocals and mellow guitars to really suck ...
