...For the first half of 1981, the three members of the Police went their separate ways, re-assembling in July to start work on their fourth album, Ghost In The Machine, with a new co-producer in Hugh Padgham. Despite their increasing prosperity and a more relaxed recording environment. it turned out to be a rather joyless album, although it reached Number 1 in the UK regardless. The nagging calypso of Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic contrasted with an overall greyness exemplified by the dour Invisible Sun, a single whose accompanying video, incorporating scenes from strife tor Northern Ireland, was banned from BBC television.
It just depends how you like your Police, I guess, but I happen to like this album....

Advantages: Full of great new material Disadvantages: Far too long
...from the heart. This song is beautiful and full of feeling, it makes you feel sorry for the character's predicament.
Next we are introduced Pip. This girl has attitude, and owns the track Teenage Hustling. The anger and power are obvious, it contrasts with the tracks either side perfectly. This is one song I wish I could hear live, I don't know why but I imagine it'd be groundbreaking. This track makes up for the power that her previous 2 albums lacked.

1. You Are A Runner And I Am My Father's Son
2. Modern World
3. Grounds For Divorce
4. We Built Another World
5. Fancy Claps
