For a modern rock band to survive more than 10 years all together, especially if their singles are always at the top of the charts, is not an easy task. And you won't find many examples among the 90's generation… Pearl Jam, though some troubles until 1998, survived, and keeps giving us great songs. "Rearviewmirror" uses the title of one of theirs great songs to give you a picture of what this album is all about, a retrospective on all their hits!
In this album you'll find from the fueled hard rock songs to the everlasting ballads where Vedder's voice finds its warmer and tender nature.
I don't even need to talk about the songs, you just have to read the titles and you immediately recall them, the time when they were playing on the radio, and all the kinds of things you were living back then. That's what this album has of most amazing. You have around 30 songs that you know for sure; even the lyrics will pump to your head as you're listening to it!

They decided to give fans a little non-album addition, with the 3 brilliant songs: "State of Love and Trust", "Breath" and "Man of the Hour". For those who are just familiar with their worldwide applauded singles, these songs will sound as good surprises, and will be a useful bait for making you search further unknown songs in their albums.

But what the devoted fan really needs here are the remixes of the songs from "Ten." If you listen today to "Ten" you'll dislike the glossy late 80's-early 90's sound, but the Brendan O'Brien remixes really bring out the best in the songs! A fine updating!

If you are a Pearl Jam fan, you won't find this the most relevant record in their discography, but for those yet afar from their history; here you have a fine piece that resumes the reasons to much of the success they achieved.

This best of compilation, was the last opportunity for "Epic", the Sony Record Company, make some profit with Pearl Jam's greatest hits, since their long term contract was coming to an end.
Indeed the latest original album, "Pear Jam" (2006), was already recorded with "J Records" (a company created by Pearl Jam) label.

In the end, this is about about great memories, great rock' roll songs!
