Runrig are a 6 piece band from the highlands of Scotland Lead singer: Bruce Guthro (the only non scottich member) (Lead singer on the album Donnie Munro) Drummer: Iain Bain Key board Player: Brian Hurran (keyboard player on album: none but would have been Peter Wishart at a later date) Percussonist: Calum Macdonald Bass Guitarist: Rory Macdonald Lead gutarist: Malcolm Jones
They have being going since 1973, just over 30 years. The music style is normally discribed as folk/celtic rock music which is as close as I come to discribing it as they don't tend to fall in to any one slot!
This album was recorded in 1981 and is considered to be one of the best Runrig have ever done , with such beautiful songs as the old boys to totally unique songs as An Toll Dubh (the Dugeon) with its thumping beat that was created when telegraph poles where lifted and dropped to produce a deep thump which is so prominate in the song.
the track list for the album is as follows An Toll Dubh Rubh nan Cudaigean ic Iain ic Sheumais Recovery s tu mo leannan/nightfall on marsco Breaking the chains Fuaim a bhlair tir an airm the old boys Dust
Most of the songs on the album are gaelic, the native tounge of the highlands of scotland where the band originated. The album is a very "rocky" one, mixed in with a more "folky" sound which is typical of the slower songs. Its a very good combination which makes for a very intresteing album. I'm sorry that I can't give a title translation for most of the songs as my copy of the album doesn't have one. I would highly recomend this album to any one who is looking for some thing different.

My wife is a big fan of this type of music, her favourite at the moment are Celtus, but I am trying to get her to listen to Runrig as I think they are brilliant....nice one ....Roy

Hi, I'm a big fan of Runrig, too, like Peter is, this one commentated before me, I met him first time last weekend, we are from ciao.de ... Two songs are very interesting and also to find in new versions on the last studio-album "Proterra": "The Old Boys" and "An Toll Dubh" ... "Dust" has been a nice one live with Donnie ... Many regards, Sven (Zoobremia)
