Red Book sees a very different Texas to the previous albums 'Be Careful What You Wish For' and 'The Hush'. More time seems to have been spent on getting things just right, the result is the most complete album I have heard for a long time.
The album starts incredibly strongly with the singles 'Getaway' and 'Can't Resist'. Both catchy and after one listen they will be stuck in your head. 'What About Us?' is an incredibly moving and haunting track; full of emotion, reminiscent of Kate Bush. 'Sleep' sees a rarely used technique utilised by texas: a duet, and it works.
This album stands up well to repeat listening, I have been listening non stop for two weeks. It is an album which has no weaknesses.
The best thing about this album is its ability with every song to convey the emotion felt by the members whilst writing these tracks; with every one being lyrically and musically strong. No fillers on this album. Undoubtedly their best album- a Greatest Hits Part 2. Just a shame that this album is not getting the publicity and success it deserves.
