...Shystie aka Chanelle Calica grew up in Hackney and is the queen in the urban music sceen in the UK. If you have not heard her music you may recognise her from "Dub plate drama" or the recent film "Adulthood" playing the character Lisa. The album "Diamond in the dirt" has a mixed variety of music. For some reason being a female and an MC doesn't seem to mix in the eyes of a male. But Shystie proves that females are just as good if not better when it comes to lyrcis creative style and sound. Fighting in the girls corner with "womens world" shows the integrity and intelligence of this woman and at the same time is able to bring comedy into the equation. ...I am not an avid fan of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Though I like my music their sound is not always been for me. This is the first album from them that I have really got into, and I have to say that I am impressed. The Red Hot Chili Peppers are a four piece funk/rock band. Lead vocals from Anthony Kiedis, guitar John Frusciante and bassist Flea and drummer Chad Smith. This album, their seventh is very much a mixture of sounds, some such as ‘Get on Top’ which has a real upbeat funk feel to another variation of rock. Both are equally good, though I have to say I still prefer the later. The album also is written by the band and shows some great little touches. ...you find someone you love - "This is the first day of my life, swear i was born right in the doorway". I think everyone who loves someone can relate to the lyrics, they are very meaning full. It is a medium speed song, if you have heard any of his stuff, it will probably be this. It only has a few instruments in it, and only conor singing, which i feel adds to the efect. ANOTHER TRAVELIN' SONG This is another faster song and it has a happy beat, but it seems to be about a sadder subject - "I'll fight like hell to hide that I've given up". It is a great song, with alot of emotion in it, i think he almost shouts the last words. Again, the girl Emmylou harris sings in it, and she also makes it sound good.
