...This album is a broad yet typical retrospective of the commercial side of the disco era. Staples of the disco scene such as Chic and Earth, Wind & Fire feature here, yet in their most famous incarnations as opposed to the music that changed the face of the dance underground forever. There are rare stand out moments such as the highlighted Brothers Johnson classic 'Stomp' and Diana Ross's Chic penned athem 'Upside Down' however, overall this album is a good album for those that think of disco as a Car Wash style flares and afro 'Good Times' party. It's not for the connoisseurs of disco for whom any one of the Larry Levan or Joey Negro compilations would be better suited.... Read review

Advantages: A good mix of songs
Disadvantages: Doesnt help you get through the housework

...A cd thats a couple of years old now but still fun to listen to. I mean this cd says its meant to help you through the housework but I personally dont think it really does,if anything it distracts you,because you just start singing along to all the great tracks this album has to offer, you get caught up in the music and completely lose track of what you were doing - maybe a good thing in a way :-) Housework vol 1 is a double album that has some cracking songs that you just dont seem to hear on the radio anymore such as The Beach Boys - Help Me Rhonda and Don McLeans - American Pie. The songs on this album just make you feel good and really help to lift your spirits,but I honestly think its marketed wrong,this is a feel good album for anyone just not people doing the housework.I dont think the title of the album really represents... Far from a sexual reference, Rock Against Bush vol.1 is Fat Wreck Chords’ first attempt at direct political persuasion, or dissuasion as far as the Bush administration is concerned, however, doubts have been raised as to the authenticity of the reason behind the release of this compilation. The punk community has, for some time now, attempted to encourage non-voters to become more active in an effort to remove President Bush at the next Presidential elections. Rock Against Bush aims to do this through the music as well as the message but it is burdened by fierce criticism from sceptics within the punk community.
