"Necrophobic, can't control the paranoia/Scared to die!"
- Necrophobic

"Waiting the hour destined to die here in the table of hell/
A figure in white unknown by man approaching the altar of death/
...dagger in hand, spilling the pure virgin blood/
...ceremonial death, answer his every command/
...soon you will meet the undead/ enter to the realm of Satan..."
- Altar of Sacrifice *

ALRIOGHT DAG NABBITT!!! SURE I CUT AND PASTE THIS FIRKIN REVIEW O'MINE FROM ONE O'THEM WEBSITE/STORES WHERE I SEND SOME REVIEWS - BUT THE POINT HERE IS, I'D LIKE TO SHARE/SPILL MY OP HERE BOUT THIS ALBUM ALSO HERE IN THIS PLACE OKEY??!! THAT'S THE POINT!! I.E.= I WOULD'VE NOT WRITTEN IT ANY OTHER WAY!

With such lyrics and lovable songs, you know that the ever 'slaytanic' Slayer is not your average typical-americana band set to attract some orgasmic hormones from female audiences. This album came out during in the heyday and popularity of Satanic occultism, demon worship, and the like- founding its way into other genres as well as comic books, movies, and a variety of published books for mass market distribution during in those days.

Although non-Satanists themselves (like we're told), Slayer's not that totally ignorant about the kind of songs that they are purveying, in which where they have become as one of the pioneering acts in the cultic genre in Rock music that has come to be known as Death Metal Thrash - vocalist Tom Araya thus stated in response to those who question them in what they are doing, that they don't 'condone' such things they speak of, but rather they are portraying them so as to make it clear to the masses that "such things happen" in the world where we live in.

Having listened to the most of the releases in their catalog - i could now confidently say that the band is quite really monotonous in their delivery (dime-a-dozen example of this matter is that both "Angel of Death" and "Jesus Saves" had a point of totally having the same chord and exact structure in particular with this album) and have only began to try emulating a different approach to their sound by their follow up to this one called South of Heaven, which is a notch above their sophomore album Hell Awaits! and carries the band's cover of the Judas Priest(es)'s "Dissident Aggressor" (however the low peak of the said album is that: although the band may have tried to 'improvise' on their music, Araya's vocals have turned almost quite nearly into as a squeeming peep-squeek sad to say); and (perhaps forced for a marketable need to compete more in the present recording bussiness' mold ?) such a change is now so evident on their latest release God Hates Us All - which may i add is very impressive in its production.

There was a time when i have a very great appetite for these kind of music such as Slayer's (PANTERA's Vulgar Display of Power is a great successive stuff to this). Furthermore, on Reign In Blood's album cover artwork illustration of Satan, Astoreth (sitting on the throne), the catholic pope (see Revelations 17:1-6) along with decapitated heads and sacrificed human carcasses in the surrounding of Hell itself- there on the lower RIGHT corner is a warped picture of someone whom my friends/relatives would automatically ask me how'd my 21-yr old picture got in there whenever i show it to them (the LP was released when i was only 14 or 15)...

END NOTE: This "Expanded Edition" includes two bonus tracks: the remix version for "Criminally Insane", and their very first recording "Aggressive Perfector" which originallly appeared on them classic compilations METAL MASACRE 3.
