Their new album, Release will serve to reiterate a message Pet Shop Boys have been sending out since the start: They will not be labelled. They may always use synths, but they're not synthesiser purists, and have often employed real drummers, real orchestras and real guitars.

Advantages: Different sounds, more melodic. Disadvantages: Less dancy, slower.
...Their new album, Release will serve to reiterate a message Pet Shop Boys have been sending out since the start: They will not be labelled. They may always use synths, but they're not synthesiser purists, and have often employed real drummers, real orchestras and real guitars. Release has 10 tracks, only two of these do not feature guitars. The album opens with Home and dry. This was the track released to advertise the album and is a track about longing ... ...Based around a catchy synth refrain, it's a very infectious song and very easy to relate to.
I get along is the second track and the second single. It portrays a story based on the goings on between UK Prime Minister, Tony Blair and the former Foreign Secretary, Peter Mandelson, but it has been tweaked to make more a love story. The music is very Oasis and as infectious as the common cold, a good choice for a single.
The next track, Birthday boy, ...

Today I would like to write times again over music, that am also a group, which I like very gladly. I bought from the Pet Shop Boys the new disk and did not repent it so far. Unfortunately don't I know myself the personal record, there I usually with the sound of the songs? all the same of whom? employ and less with the career/development or the career of the people, which sing there. I know some naturally also, but I can not say the personal record, ... ...unfortunately. The two Gestalter of this group are called Neil Tennant and Chris Love, whereby first of the two is a singer and stands the other one at the key board. In addition sometimes a Mrs. and also different men than company participates. I know this group from the 80's and my enthusiasm for her until today already remained. But now to the new album: = Home and dry

Advantages: Unique example of early nineties Pop Disadvantages: Not enough of it!
...In 1993, the PetShopBoys (Neil Tennant, vocals and Chris Lowe, keyboards) introduced "very" which encapulated the boys at the highlight of their career. The Boysreleased their first album "please" in 1986, and this was followed by "actually" in 1987. The remix CDs "introspective" and "disco" were also released during the eighties. The PetShopboys, along with other groups such as Duran Duran, dominated British pop in the late eighties, yet their album "Behaviour" released in 1990 was not as succesful as they had hoped. They spent three years on their next album Very, and the time and effort paid off, the album was uniform of the camp style pop in the early nineties but the PetShopBoys had approached it in a way different to other artists, and their uniquity shone through. The album was called "very," simply because, according...

Advantages: Good songs Disadvantages: Only a few songs
...The PetShopBoys have a habit of releasing 'minor' albums between their major releases. Between their first and second albums, 'Please' and 'Actually', they released 'Disco', a six-track piece which featured no real new material, but rather remixes of previously released tracks (some primary, some B-side works).
Between 'Actually' and 'Behaviour', the PetShopBoysreleased this album, 'Introspective', another minor album, with six tracks. However, this time there was new material--remixes of two previously released pieces, and four new works. This was done in an interesting format--each of the tracks on the album were in the form of extended dance versions, usually the kind of thing one gets when purchasing the single apart from the album. However, to get the tradition 'album' version of songs such as 'Domino dancing', 'Left to my...

Advantages: Superbly crafted dance music. Disadvantages: Less pleasing work by other remixers.
...February 2003 saw the release of PetShopBoys’ latest album, Disco 3. It is, as the name suggests, the third in a series that began in 1986, which makes it nearly as long running as EastEnders, just a little bit better. The first album, Disco, was something of a phenomenon for the pop market because it was a remix album. Although the mixes on Disco were available with the 12” singles, the likes of the Disco album could generally only be found in the at-the-time underground dance scene, where the primordial bubblings of what we now know as dance music resided.
The track list was sparse, but the quality was high and if you give Disco a spin today, memories of the Eighties are sure to cloud your mind like an unshakeable hangover. Though, from what I understand (for I was a wee nipper) for many, the Eighties actually...
