Advantages: A good film Disadvantages: Not one to come back to many times
About the MovieDay of the dead is the third movie in the "of the dead" series directed by George.A.Romero. This time it is set in an underground research station. There are two groups of people, the scientists and the military. These two groups have different opinions on what to do as the scientists want to use science and the military just want to shoot. They are running low on food, ammunition and medical supplies. The zombies have taken over the whole world by now and it seems that little is possible. Dr.Logan (A scientist) tries to discover how the zombies "work" in order to control them but Rhodes and his underlings (The military) don't like the way he works.
My opinion
This film has a lot more talking than zombies but it still has some pretty cool gory parts to satisfy the fans. The special effects are better than ...
Advantages: Romero zombie film Disadvantages: Predictable
the homocidal leader of this survivng group, who desperately has to have his own way. Understandably, living undergroudn, constantly being under siege of zombies, and running out of basic supplies, there is tension among the group.
This leads to fighting and some quite gruesome images and deaths.
This part is quite predictable really, everyone knows that in most films like this, everyone will turn against everyone else, and eventually because of this disorganisation the zombie nation will be able to breach the defences of the underground fortress. Inevitably, this happens in Day Of The Dead.
The film is quite good though, the acting is not of a very high standard, but this is the same with most of the films in the series. Especially the 2004 release of Land Of The Dead. This is made up for by story line and plot, although somewhat ...
Advantages: Intelligent addition to Romero's zombie saga, darkly savage, black humour. Disadvantages: If you're not a fan of zombies, this might not be your cup of tea.
I was a big fan of Romero's 1978 zombie classic 'Dawn of the Dead' so was expecting to enjoy this when I first settled down to watch it several years ago. In all honesty, I threw up after I'd seen it and felt thoroughly depressed. Why, you might ask, have I then rated it as excellent?
Well, I'm nothing if not a trooper. Undaunted by nausea, I decided the film deserved a second viewing. I can't say how glad I am that I usually give things a second chance. The film had changed drastically in my eyes. (Though I was still squinting a bit when zombies ripped out entrails with gay abandon).
The film takes place some time after the zombie plague described in 'Dawn of the Dead'. The human population we see has been reduced to a small group of soldiers and scientists bunkered down together in an underground storage facility in ...
