Remixes 1981-2004 - Depeche Mode

Advantages: Some stunning tracks, deeply moving in places
Disadvantages: Some may find it lyrically disturbing

...die, Earthquake terror figures rise, Princes di is wearing a new dress'. A medium paced track with an unusually political message for Depeche Mode - as the track later on advises 'And when you change a vote, You may change the world'. I wish. a good Kraftwerk-esque backing with subtle choral samples to enhance the feel. This was the last track on vinyl. The CD ads three new tracks. Breathing in Fumes, the B-side to Stripped and effectively a heavily remixed/rework of that track. More or less an instrumental but with odd snatched lines from Stripped. Good stuff. But Not Tonight - In serious danger of being upbeat 'The wind in my hair, Makes me so aware, How good it is to live, Tonight'. I *think* this was another B-side (if your hardcore Mode fan, sorry, I should really know). Musically a bit bland but the words are quite good... Read review

...I'm back with a new review. Some of you already know that I really enjoy depeche mode. That's why I'll try (only try because it is really hard for me to write in English) to make you know and enjoy "construction time again". Immortal! That's how I can name this beautiful album. "Construction time again" is the third depeche mode's album. Remember… 1981: "speak and spell" is their first album. It's new! Four young men managed to make a really good first album… not perfect, but really good… Vince clark leaves depeche mode. Some people were sure that was the end… but… 1982: martin gore becomes the group's songwriter and 'broken frame' is the first album written by martin. Advantages: Bargain price from Asda
Disadvantages: Not many apart from it should include the track 'Barrel Of A Gun'

...I have to admit I have wanted to get my hands on a copy of Depeche Mode\'s Best Of for a while but never got round to it. However, by chance I spotted this in Asda for a fiver. Grab it while you can! I wasn\'t sure whether I would like all of the songs but I realised as I listened I knew more of them than I thought. As an 80\'s child I love electronic/synth-based pop. Apart from the familiar \'Just Can\'t Get Enough\', the other hits are maybe not quite as well known but are arguably better. Most of the tracks are from the 80\'s but some are more recent like \'Dream On\' from 2001. \'Enjoy The Silence\' is atmospheric and I guarantee you will not be able to get it out of your head. \'Personal Jesus\' is also moody and magnificent.
