It seems like The Stone Roses have been around for ages…... Well actually, The Stones Roses group has been around since 1985. Before then, Ian Brown (vocals) and John Squire (guitarist) had their own band called English Rose.
With the addition of a drummer called Reni (Alan John Wren) in 1985, other guitarist Andy Couzens and bassist Pete Garner, The Stone Roses were born. Playing in Warehouses at first, they attained a cult following very quickly.
... ...by Pete Garner. Garner was replaced by Mani (Gary Mounfield). The band then recorded its first single, 'So Young'
May 1989 saw the release of their first album, 'The Stone Roses'.
From here, success escalated for the group who were going from playing at sold-out gigs to sold-out theatres!
For the next 7 - 8 years, The Stone Roses would release a number of big hit records including 'One Love', 'She Bangs The Drums', 'Waterfall' and of course, 'Fools ...
