Advantages: Lots of music, if you like music Disadvantages: Weak story
(film only review)
I had high hopes for 'Nick and Norah's Infinite playlist'. I had regarded the film 'Juno' as almost creating a new genre of movie, by that I mean, aimed at the teenage audience but with a clever and intelligent script, tackling serious issues with sensitivity with a serious, yet playful approach. I thought I would enjoy this as much as 'Juno', but I didn't. It's perhaps unfair for me to draw comparison, but seeing as the guy playing Nick, Michael Cera, played the male lead in 'Juno', comparisons are inevitable.
So, what's the film about? We meet Nick who is still in love with his ex, we learn early on that he likes making her mix-CDs. We meet Norah, who it has a friend, who has an ex, that keeps making her CDs, she has no interest, thus throws the CDs away, to the annoyance of Norah, who picks them up ...
Advantages: Some fun, catchy tracks, he co-wrote some of the tracks Disadvantages: Some tracks are a bit weak and unmemorable
Cover Artwork/CD Booklet -
The front cover and back of the box features a photo of Nick leaning against a classic car, wearing a tshirt, jeans and trainers, which are pretty dusty, with rubble on the ground.
The booklet contains different photos of him in different poses standing by the beach, near water. It also features all the usual other info., ie. song credits, Nicks thank you messages and lyrics (to Help Me, My Confession, I Stand For You and Do I Have To Cry For You).
Also possibly worth mentioning are the drawings/doodles on the third last page of the booklet, which I believe were drawn byNick himself.
- Conclusions/Any Other Thoughts or info? -
Nick did have a hand in writing a few of the tracks on this album, being a co-writer for the following tracks:- My Confession, I Stand For You, Do I Have To Cry For You ...
Advantages: excellent quality, educational, popular and familiar characters Disadvantages: some "inappropriate" advertisements, long advertising breaks
past, there was one with Blue's Clues Kevin and Blue singing a song, and now there is one with a group of children singing their song about getting ready for bed. The songs are full length songs, not short clips, and are followed by special evening programming, and not repeats of daytime shows. The selected shows are quiet, and gentle, and designed to relax.
The bedtime hour is followed byNick Classics, with shows from decades past being featured, most notably from the 60's and 70's. This not only provides great entertainment for slightly older children before their own bedtime, and nostalgia for parents, but is a great resource to record for when the series loop into repeats. There are a few small downsides. While a lot of the series ...
