Advantages: great, brilliant and rambly - and that's just my review... :P Disadvantages: none, honest.
I think of TMWTE as the kind of thing Alice In Wonderland's Caterpillar would have as a theme song for his life? (am I being too odd in public again?)
And then there's the real showstopper. The Cedar Room mixes all the classic Doves principles: blending sounds, extending and playing with musical patterns, melancholy lyrics and a touch of inexplicable brilliance.
After that, the lovely instrumental Reprise and the odd and ever-so-slightly indie-sanctimonious A House kind of get forgotten as you come down from the thrill, but hey, who cares?
Hey, do you think if I keep treating English like it's German by gluing words together with hyphens I'll end up with a review one day that has absolutely NO spaces?
Oh, and speaking of language? please recognise that there is ABSOLUTELY NO "THE" BEFORE DOVES. It shouldn't annoy me, but it ...
Advantages: Spacey Chill out music! Disadvantages: a bit dated nowadays
account for at least a part of this, because it is so distinctive. (Particularly when the date of its composition and recording are remembered).
As the title of the book maybe implies to you, the story deals with the relationship between humanity and robotic "life" forms - as perceived by the author - Phillip K Dick. "- How human are robots"? He asks.
Why am I talking about this in a review of the soundtrack? Because I believe that this informs the listener when hearing the music. These are abstract sounds of beauty. Digital sounds replace analogue "proper" musicians in all but one of the tracks - "One more kiss dear" which itself seems to be included in order to provide sharp contrast to the dehumanised world of Vangelis' haunting melodies.
It has a really haunting style to it and there is a unity between most of the tracks that ...

Advantages: beautiful music to a great film, very touching, cheap Disadvantages: carelessly made booklet, weird extra track
Today I will tell you all about the soundtrack to the epic movie
Alexander by Vangelis
What is it?
This is the soundtrack to the movie "Alexander" by Oliver Stone. The movie came out
in 2004 and recieved mixed review - some loved it, some hated it. But most reviewers
agreed on the soundtrack, composed by Vangelis, being a work of art.
Who is Vangelis?
Vangelis is a greek composer and a pioneer regarding electrical music. He has
started to compose electric music that sounds like a whole epic orchestra, putting a
lot of feeling into it. He was born in 1943 and surprisingly also composed the music
to "Bladerunner".
What's "Alexander"?
"Alexander" is a movie about Alexander The Great. About 350 before Christ, he was
the son of the Macedonian king Philip. After his father died, he became the king of

Album Notes
Personnel includes: Vangelis (various instruments); Caroline Lavelle, Mary Hopkin, Konstantinos Paliasaras, Montserrat Caballe, Jeremy Budd, Roman & Emanuelle Polanski, The English Chamber Choir. Engineers: Frederick Rousseau, Philippe Colonna. Recorded in 1990-1998. Remastered Argentinean release. REPRISE is a collection of extracts from Vangelis's albums of the '90s plus "Rachel's Song," featuring Mary Hopkin, from the much-belated release in 1994 of his soundtrack for BLADERUNNER. The tracks are interwoven to form a rich, ambient album. The three movements from EL GRECO (a fund-raiser for the National Gallery of Athens purchase of an El Greco painting) feature Greek tenor Konstantinos Paliatsaras and the Spanish soprano Montserrat Caballe in a plaintive spiritual mood reminiscent of John Tavener. From VOICES, fans get "Come to Me" with the voice of Caroline Lavelle, along with the lovely "Prelude." Vangelis's love of the sea inspired his album OCEANIC--"Bon Voyage" opens REPRISE with its lush rippling waves. "Dawn," from THE CITY, recorded live in a Rome hotel room, is an urban soundscape with guest appearances from Roman and Emmanuelle Polanski. Vangelis has composed haunting electronic tone poems for lovers of Clannad, brimming with emotive keyboard melodies and glittering ethereal hymns. Most notable is the main theme from the Christopher Columbus adventure film 1492. It's a lavish, windswept march-like chorale which, when released as a single, reputedly became Germany's biggest seller
Album Reviews
Q (3/00, p.125) - 3 stars out of 5 - "...simple melodies embellished with restraint and subtlety. Swept back into favour by the temple-rubbing balm of New Age and chill-out music. Vangelis' music now fits the bill perfectly."
