Disadvantages: not enough of it

Calling all Batman fans?? New on the market at Warner Brothers shops is a neat package on Batman. It?s called the ?Masterpiece Edition? What you get is the 1st edition of DC Comics, Batman & Robin (copy) a book on how Batman was developed including the history behind the early films and comics and a stand up figure of the very first Batman. I bought the pack in America and I don?t think it has hit the UK market yet but no doubt it will turn up soon. It is a floow on from the successful 'Superman' edition that they brought out Other items which WB do which are new on the scene......Batman dressing gown, black fleece with the Batman logo on the back / computer floppy discs with the Batman logo on / Batman paperweigth / T Shirts, jackets, slippers, pyjamas...the list goes on. Does The Beatles debut album really 'Please Please Me'?

Advantages: The bands epic debut album; a fantastic set of songs with memorable vocal efforts
Disadvantages: Some of the tracks are a bit so-so; it's still the early Beatles so not overly complex

for the first few years of their careers; as I mentioned in one of my previous reviews for the soundtrack of ?A Hard Day?s Night?, the band were very green at the start of their careers in terms of branching out and creating ambiguous, exciting and challenging sounding records. In fact, many of McCartney?s early songs, in particular the ballads, were scrutinised: tracks like ?I?ll Follow The Sun? and ?When I?m Sixty-Four? just didn?t suit the band at that stage in their careers, as their desire was to be seen as a rock and roll quartet. Fruitier moments just weren?t a factor in the early productions of the groups work so it?s undeniable that ?Please Please Me? was to be made up almost entirely of songs that contained a real edge to them but at the same time, the album would still concentrate on the bands habit of singing to their sweethearts. ?I ...

The Beatles, Please Please Me (album)

Advantages: Heartwarming, easy to listen to, up in mood, the start of something wondrous, lovely nostalgia
Disadvantages: Some of the cover versions are a bit iffy

I was ten weeks away from my 9th birthday when The Beatles? first official album Please Please Me was released on 22nd March 1963. The whole thing was recorded in a single day during February 1963 and it was released after the song Please Please Me had quickly shot to no.2 in the UK singles charts in January of the same year. The album made it to no.1 in the UK album charts in April of 1963, no.32 on its re-entry in March 1987 and on no.38 on its re-issue in September of this year. The tracks are a combination of Lennon/McCartney compositions and some cover versions.
