Advantages: It's not 2007 anymore! Disadvantages: I didn't do very well.....
Last year I decided to hedge my bets and do an A-Z of resolutions on Ciao - the thinking being that I'd at least manage to keep some of them. So, a year later it's time to see how I did. In order to get an overall idea of how I did, I will give myself 1 point where I have achieved my aim, deduct 1 point where I clearly haven't, and nothing for those where I neither have nor haven't!
A = A in A level Psychology - I'm currently doing an A level Psychology via distance learning (i.e. I read the text book and meet with a tutor sporadically and say "everything's fine!", and turn up to the exams). This resolution is certainly achievable but only if I do get my finger out and do some work, as one of the exams is in 3 weeks!
Verdict - achieved - 1 point
B = Badminton - Hubby and I started playing badminton just over a year ago ...

Advantages: Set goals for yourself Disadvantages: You could fail.
In the past I have never been a big one for making New Years Resolutions and when I have bothered I have been pretty bad at sticking to them. However as I enter my 40th year on earth I thought I would mark the occasion with a couple of resolutions to mark the fact and to ensure that I have something to look back on at the years end.
I already go to the gym a lot and watch what I eat so whilst I could do with losing some weight apart from giving up chocolate I'm pretty much doing everything I should be and well giving up chocolate is just plain stupid after all resolutions are meant to make you happy and give you pleasure and to stop eating chocolate would go against everything I believe in, besides Cadburys would go bust and all those workers lose their jobs.
My first resolution is that I am going to dive the SS Thistlegorm. This ...

New Years resolutions for me tend to work extremely well till about the second week in January then all inclination of being a size 10, regular gym goer go out of the window. So this year I've decided to knock on the head the idea of ever getting more than one leg into a size 10 skirt and set up some more realistic goals. I'm not going to vow to be nice to small children, recycle my body weight in rubbish every month nor am I going to give up the few remaining vices I have. Nor am I going to vow to travel around the world on a yacht single handily -I get sea sick on a rowing boat in the local park nor am I going to bungee jump for charity but I am going to attempt to stick to a few of the resolutions listed below.

Of course I'm going to turn up, I always do I rather like that one day of the month when my bank account is in ...

The BoDeans: Kurt Neumann, Sam Llanas, Bob Griffin. Additional personnel: Michael Ramos (accordion, Hammond b-3 organ); Kevin Leahy (vibraphone, drums); Nick Kitsos (drums). Recording information: The Slamshack, Buda, Texas. Best known for their smash "Closer to Free" (which doubled as the theme song for the TV drama PARTY OF FIVE), the BoDeans returned from an eight-year hiatus on 2004's RESOLUTION. With founding co-writers Sam Llanas and Kurt Neumann at the helm (along with original bassist Bob Griffin), these stalwart roots-rockers emerge from their lengthy absence with 14 songs synonymous with the kind of character-driven fare penned by Springsteen, Mellencamp, and Seger. The dream-pop of "Slipping Into You" paints an picture of romance in New Orleans, heart-break is given a Texas Tornados-like treatment with accordion on "Wild World," and a fusion of strings and gnarly guitars highlight "Marianne." The combination of Llanas and Neumann's distinct vocals make for a delightful sweet-and-sour blend, be it on the anthemic opener "If It Makes U" or the sing-along summer ode "Said 'Hello'."
