Advantages: Great mixes, chilled, value for money Disadvantages: Two weak tracks, nothing major.
...This 2CD compilation by Jay Burnett is very, very good.
CD1 is relatively poor compared to CD2, which is amazing.
Alternative mixes of Dido, Spiller "Cry Baby", Motorcycle "When the rush comes".
David Bowie vs Scumfrog appears with an excellent "Loving The Alien". "Janeiro" by Solid Sessions is so, so chilled and takes my mind to another dimension.
Maybe there is two weak tracks on the album being Moony "Dove" and Kylie Minogue "Love At First Sight" which let's face it aren't good tracks in their original form.
From beginning to end it is a great journey with a few parts of excellence. Definately one of the better Jay Burnett compilations as his other Euphoria's feature the same songs here and there.

...Rev Hammer is a modern day minstrel, a permanently travelling troubadour. Raised on the sounds of Irish folk music, Delta blues, and Johnny Cash, Rev started singing at the age of eleven; 'Big Bad John' at an agricultural show, and started wandering not too many years later. Fuelled by the sounds of his youth, and driven feverishly by the inspiration of The Clash, Rev took to the road in the early eighties, and has been gigging constantly ever since. He has performed at five Glastonbury Festivals, two Edinburgh Festivals, and the Voessa Jazz Festival in Norway. He has also toured with The Levellers, New Model Army, The Oysterband, Richard Thompson, Billy Bragg, and Hank Wangford. A chance meeting with The Levellers in the heartland of England, has led to a lasting friendship, and the collaboration on this album. Drawn together by...

Advantages: Fantastic enchanting tunes Disadvantages: Somewhat reminiscent of Deserters songs
...I wasnt sure if I could take another Mercury Rev album into the fold of my music collection, but Im pleased I have. I decided to use the listening post at my local music store before committing approx 12 quid to this album (no I didnt buy it online!!) I instantly loved what I was hearing. Now if you dont know Mercury Rev, you may not have heard anything quite like it before. I think of their first big album (Deserter's songs) as music for ghosts. Its creepy, eerie, but strangely beautiful. The lyrics seem to be all about pixies and mystery. Im no expert music buff, and cannot classify their style any other way. Their last album (All is dream) felt a bit darker (and i didnt like it) but The Secret Migration album is back to the rev I know and love. The lyrics still talk about trees and mist, but seem to be somewhat more uplifting. Donahue...
